Mostly ghost stories of varying quality (gave up halfway through The Abbot's Ghost by Louisa May Alcott wisely using the pseudonym A.M. This is a fantastic anthology of weird fiction written by women from 1806-1936. It was really interesting to stumble across authors whose classic fiction I was already familiar with (such as George Eliot, E. Nesbit, Charlotte Bronte, Elizabeth Gaskell and Virginia Woolf), and most of the stories were well-written and entertaining. I especially loved 'The Mortal Immortal' by Mary Shelley and 'The Abbot's Ghost' by Louisa May Alcott, and 'The Secret Chamber' by Margaret Oliphant terrified me!

Some great stories in here by women writers spanning over 100 years, from the early nineteenth century.

Olive Schreiner's "In a Far Off World" spurred me to ideas for a short story of my own, and "The Banshee's Warning" tugged a few heart strings.

Some great reading.
