This is a saga of a Quaker mother who was moved to bear witness to the war on Sarajevo by visiting there several times, bringing aid in whatever way she could. A religious woman heeds the call and goes to help others during the war in Bosnia. Religion aside, it is a brutal and, I hate to use the word, but touching story. The war was horrendous and the author captures a great deal of the horror. She returns repeatedly to the region and helps where she can.

It's far better a book than missionaries going to Africa.
