Book Review Center, non-fiction, recommended for gr. 6-9.

Students may pick this up this short book initally hoping for Jolly Roger-type pirates, but although they are briefly mentioned, this book is about modern-day pirates. After some background information, the book follows the 2009 attach on the Maersk Alabama in which the captain was captured but freed following a rescue by US Navy Seals. Additional details on how ships' crews are prepared for an attack, how a hostage situation might work, a

This book is perfect for third grade readers and above. The photographs are intriguing and the information is not too difficult to understand. Equipped with a contents page, index, glossary, and references for more information, it is a must have for school libraries.
