It seems as though every year we try to keep the focus on the true meaning of Christmas, but somehow the tv, news, web, retailers, and restaurants vie for our attention and we end up losing focus. In this daily devotional book, there are many great scriptures, prayers, and ideas for you to keep your focus on Christ this Christmas season.

With all the hustle and bustle of the season, this devotion is set up in short daily segments that are easy to fit into your schedule. Each one begins with a Bib

This is a devotional style book made up of 30 short chapters in 5 1-week sections. The goal is to read one chapter a day during advent to get a view of what Christmas should be like. Each chapter is ended with a prayer for the day. Our church went through the devotional this advent.

With real life stories, Mike Slaughter illustrates Expecting a Miracle, Giving up on Perfect, God's Scandalous Love, and Jesus' Wish List for his birthday so we can celebrate A Different Kind of Christmas. These 30 short readings are packed with rich examples of choosing to fill Jesus's wish list instead of our own. I look forward to reading it again each day of December.

A very good Christmas devotional series that draws your attention to the true meaning of Christmas and focuses your attention away from the materialism and consumerism of the usual Christmas season.

A Different Kind of Christms showed real promise when I first saw it at the store. I bought it and put it away to read during Advent. The beginning promise, however, was short-lived in my opinion. The book was a little bit too much of "I/we, me/us, ours/everyone else's." I do know quite a bit about Ginghamsburg UMC, it's members, and it's mission statement now. But I haven't really learned anything about a different kind of Christmas. There are other Advent and Christmas devotion books which, I ...more

Eh, it depends on what you are looking for. This book is perfect if you just need something quick and easy. It's a light sort of reminder to care for the world and stop being so materialistic. It's a good reminder to have. I do wish there were more intriguing examples and stories (every Christian writer seems to reference LOTR, it's popular now and it was Tolkien was Christian so it's an easy connection - I'd like a little more effort).
All in all, to me it felt like I'd heard it before and in t

Great devotional companion to the book Christmas is not Your Birthday. Highly encourage reading both together.
