I remember REALLY enjoying A Cry in the Night and While My Pretty One Sleeps in my youth, but these novels just don't hold the same magic that they once possessed for me. I've been picking up her novels to gulp down in brief chugs between some of the heavier titles (War and Remembrance, Exodus, etc.), and they definitely serve as something of a sorbet, but nothing more. I have one or two other titles that I'm considering giving my time to (if for no other reason than that I've already purchased

WOW!! Mary Higgins Clark is THE BEST...! During my library period at school, i picked this book randomly and began reading. I read three pages and wanted to read more and more....So i issued it...and it wsn't a bad decision after all!
This book is about a girl Elizabeth Lange and her sister Leila LaSalle who is thought to be murdered by her fiance Ted Winters. The story rolls on and many overwhelming evidences show up...It compels you think and imagine the plight of all the characters. SUPERB NOV More...

I read this to pass the time on the bus in high school. It's basically about a younger sister dealing with her sister's death--she was killed in a tragic fall from her apartment's balcony. The main question is did her sister's fiance, a multimillionaire, kill her that night or was it someone else?
A good suspense story with some interesting characters that crop up at the spa.

This is one of my favortie mystery books. I never saw the end coming. And thats what makes it great. Its full of twists and turn ands secrets that keep you guessing. It is extremely well done to make the ending exciting. This also makes the rest of the book suspenseful with clues about different characters dropped here and there.
It also draws you in because of the beginning. The young life/conditions lived in it displays for these girls is deplorable really at best. But then they g More...

I finished this book today and liked it very much. I did guess who had murdered Leila, but still enjoyed how everything was tied together. This one had Alvirha Meehan in it and I am pretty sure this is the first book that she was introduced in. She is quite the character. The only complaint I have and it is a minor one, is that some of the sentences appear to be choppy. But I did like the book and plan to read more by this author.

A decent suspense book with just enough drama mixed in to keep it interesting. I find Mary Higgins Clark to be easy reads usually and this was no exception. I will say that I thought I had it figured out a few times and the person who actually commited the crime was a total surprise to me in the end... i like those kind of books

I really, really like Clark's novels, but I have noticed something very interesting: her earlier novels contain more language than her later novels. The first novel I read of hers (No Place Like Home)had only one or two swear words and her very first novel (I think it was titled Where Are the Children?) was cluttered with bad language -- I was shocked! I don't know if she has grown softer over the years or if she became aware that foul language was unnecessary or what. All I know is that I took

was in the mood for an easy mystery this weekend and saw this on my shelf. easy read with interesting characters and suspenseful until the end. unforunately i knew from the beginning whodunit (too easy to guess) and i probably would have liked it more had it known been to easy to surmise.

I read this because it's in my collection, but don't remember much about it. Probably because a lot of MHC novels blend together after a while for me. The only ones I remember are the ones I absolutely love. The other ones fall to the wayside in my memory. :-(

It was a classic from Mary Higgins Clark. I always love reading her books growing up. even through I realized who the "killer" was before the middle of the book, it was well written, so I finished it. She tried to throws the reader off a couple of times.

I think this was my first Mary Higgins Clark, and it was a fun read. Good story, unpredictable villain--a page turner. I don't know if I'll read a whole lot more of Clark, but only because mystery isn't my favorite genre.

This was the one MHC book that has really left me disappointed. The plot was very predictable, so guessing who the killer was is pretty easy. I wouldn't recommend if you're looking for a great plot line.

I found myself not able to put this book down. It was very easy to get into and was constantly thinking about and trying to figure out who did it. This is my second favorite book from Mary Higgins Clark

A good book to read if you want to just sit on the couch, put forth no effort and eat munchies. I do that occasionally and so this was a fun book to read. It's your typical "who done it" book.

This book was an interesting mystery that held my attention but I cannot say I learn anything or was tully entertain by this book. It was okay but did not add anything to me or my life.

First Mary Higgins Clark book that I've read. It was pretty good. She keeps you trying to figure out what is going on and you're never quite sure until the end. :)

Really enjoyed it....aside from the never ending references to the memory of Leila. Everyone was a suspect and I did speculate, correctly so, early on who done it.

Another thrilling read from Clark! Action-packed and suspenseful, this time it is the sister of the victim who undertakes a search for the truth behind the murder.

This novel had a slow pace, very slow and it wasn't until the last few pages I really became intriqued. Otherwise, it was a good read with beleivable characters.

Mary Higgins Clark is one of my guilty pleasures. Such easy, breezy reads. Gotta thank my mommy for getting me to read her work.

If you have never read this author, take time. She is a very fast read. Short chapters that move very fast.

As usual, Mary Higgins Clark doesn't disappoint. A fast-paced book, with a taut plot and exciting events. Loved it.

Wonderful murder mystery. I read at an early age but I think it would be a good read at any age.
