* A cute tale to be used in a reading center or class library for students who may be experiencing low self-esteem; encourages self-awareness and self-confidence; use to teach students about different family types (this book particular book doesn't mention anything about the main character having a father)

This is one of my favorite books as a child. I love the artwork, which is kid friendly. The story is easy to follow, and even has a wonderful ending. This is a wonderful story for children especially with animals as the main character.

I really like how simple and repetitive this book is, it makes is easy to read. I like how the little hippo finally got his answer about being beautiful from his mom.
