rabck box from svoight 11/10; the story bounces between the Captain's house being held by the Union as a POW camp and modern day. During the civil war, the captain is sentenced to hang, and his wife, son and daughter are all estranged by the war. And all he wants is to see them all one last time to tell them that he loves them, because their last time together was filled with arguments. Unfortunately, the news of his hanging turns into a skirmish that kills him and his family. So, every year at ...more
My grandmother loaned me this book and since it is Christmas time I thought it would be appropriate to read it now. This is not going to wow you, but it was a "feel good" story. I breezed through it, the characters were interesting enough. I wouldn't go out of my way to recommend it, but if you're looking for something quick this will do.
After twenty years of marriage, Julie and Jon Radcliffe are on the verge of calling it quits. Deciding to make a last ditch effort for their children, they book a family Christmas vacation at the Oak River Plantation in Virginia, complete with people in civil war era costumes. Once they arrive, meet the caretakers, and learn the history of the house, the family's attitudes begins to change.

This is a nice Christmas story about a second chance at love. The Radcliffe family problems parallel the p

I’ve not read many Heather Graham books, despite the number in my TBR mountain. But I have read at least one of her Christmas stories, A Season of Miracles, years ago and loved it. So when hoping for a few holiday books to review for you this year, I was glad to receive a copy of A Magical Christmas. I knew I wouldn’t be let down one bit.

I like the fact that Ms. Graham’s holiday spirit in her stories includes a bit of the paranormal. That enhances the mystique and feel of the season for me. This

This is the first book I ever read by Heather Graham. I have others that she has written in different genres, but I never got around to reading them. I am so glad I found this one in my local Walmart. The title spoke to me, very much like a little advertisement in the newspaper called to Julie Radcliffe. I was sucked in from the beginning because of the mix of the historical and the contemporary. I had to get used to the time jumping, but it didn't take that long to see the parallels between the ...more

Heather Graham has written another “keeper”. I read “A Magical Christmas” and it was truly that. This is the story of a marriage in trouble. A family with Mom, Dad and three kids, none of whom are on the same wave length. They have grown miles apart emotionally. I thought at the beginning that there was no solution for these characters to resolve their issues with each other. However, a Christmas vacation to an antebellum bed and breakfast called Oak River Plantation in rural Virginia was exactl ...more
Alright, continuing with my theme of reading Holiday books up till December the 25th, I saw Heather Graham's "A Magical Christmas" and thought I'd give it a whirl. The premise seemed interesting and I know she writes a lot of ghostly stuff, which I figured would give it a nice little twist on the classic Christmas tale.

It is about a family who are quickly falling apart. Busy schedules, fighting, and secrets have created unstoppable tension. But when the family go to a secluded Christmas getaway
Love this book!

I try to read this book every year, at Christmas time. A great book about faith, hope, love, family, and Christmas.

Great christmas story to read while I am on the couch with my knee up. Past and present merge on Chrismas for an overwhelmed family.

Fantastic story & I love the Civil War storyline. I can't believe it's taken me this long to read it.

this book was a little different- a story of two families in turmoil but in different time periods. an easy read

Really enjoyed it. I like ghost stories especially centered around Christmas.
This was a touching and heartbreaking story. I loved the characters. The story line, emotions, overall feel to the book, and the perfect ending that left tears in my eyes and a smile on my face. I wouldn't mind reading this again, although the first part was a little hard on my peace of mind and had me in knots. Great for cuddle-up reading during the Christmas season and reminds us of the importance of life and love. Enjoy

I was just looking for a simple book to read around the holidays. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I really liked this book. While it was somewhat predictable it had some great messages. I have never read a book by this author but look forward to reading some now.
I already love Heather Graham, so it didn't surprise me that I would love this book when I picked it up about a year or two ago. This Christmas story, to me, is one of the best I have read so far. It is such a heartfelt story, that actually touched my heart. I finally found it to purchase and bought it, and am trying to get my mom to read it! :)
This one was a bit of a slow start for me, but once it got going I was hooked. There were many of the usual components of holiday romances, but several more unusual elements as well, which I think is what made this my best holiday read this year (so far, anyway).

It has been awhile since I read Heather Graham , but it only took a couple of pages to realize how exciting her stories are. It is one of the must-read holiday books for that festive time of year . And after you read this book you will realize no matter how big or how small your family is so important .Happy Reading !

This was a fascinating story that mixed a holiday tale with a ghost story - the results is a great read for the Christmas season! I really enjoyed it!

Took me a second to actually follow the way the book was going but love this type of historical fiction mixed with present day story telling.

This is my favorite Heather Graham book. A family torn apart in the past must help a family in the present with the same sort of problem.

Sweet and simple book. Be careful though-its a re-release from 1996 so make sure you haven't read it alreasy.
This was such a feel good type of Christmas story. It was enjoyable from beginning to end!
It was wonderful! I'll definitely be looking for more of her books in the future!
Cute feel good story. Would read again. Reminds you never to leave family angry.
This is one of the best Christmas stories I've ever read. It is an excellent tale.
I read during a month of December every year. One is of my favorite Christmas stories.
A delightful Christmas read that makes you realize what is really important.

“It wasn't a lack of attraction to her husband that caused her problems. It was life. It was traffic. It was the Miami Dade Water and Sewer bills, it was trying to get ahead, and trying to be on time. Petty little thing, but zillions of them fused together.” 2 likes
