This is a great biography and a wonderful picture of an ordinary soldier who survived an extraordinary experience. The author's father became a POW in World War II and never discussed his experiences with his children. After his death, his son discovered his father's POW diary and learned more about what made his father into the person he was. I couldn't put this book down.
Earned a bronze IPPY award.
