What Mashiro doesn't know is that Sou does this to make him miserable and Keruha goes along to get a revenge of sorts at Mashiro's ability to even smile following her dumping him. What Mashiro doesn't know is that Sou does this to make him miserable and Keruha goes along to get a revenge of sorts at Mashiro's ability to even smile following her dumping him. Mashiro confides in Sempai (the older, respected Kendo captain from previous volumes) that the person he thought he cared about (Sou) may not be the right one if they can so easily share a kiss with another (Kureha)...could they really be meant to be together, etc. The dream class continues, and strangely, Mashiro has a parasite growing from him that spews gossip, and Mashiro wears 6 beads instead of 3 because of this. Kureha has taken the form of a dead tree, representing her broken heart, but Mashiro doesn't realize it is her until he hurts her feelings, forcing her to leave the dream. The knight (Sou) attacks the parasite, thus eliminating Mashiro from the dream. We learn (or perhaps remember?) that Kurosaki Sempai is also in the dream, although we rarely see him and do not know his purpose. He is horrified by this last scene.

Mashiro and Kureha later have a confrontation, after she insults him he hits her to the horror of her friends. She is unaffected, however, and tells Sou it proves he is really a girl because otherwise he would not have hit her. She decides to go home to recolve some family problems. Mashiro tries to take a step forward by inviting Sou over to his room and show himself dressed in the girls uniform. However, Sempai shows up beforehand and Mashiro is embarassed...and hesitantly tells him the truth...that he is more or less a she. Sempai is a good listener and tells him he is very cute. Sou shows up, and Mashiro yells for him to leave (even though he was invited). Sou sees Sempai leave the room; tires of the game and gives Mashiro the cold shoulder the next day. We begin to learn more about Sempai and how he bears a heavy weight of expectation from his father, which is probably the reason he is in the dream class.

It escaltes further soon after at Kendo practice when Mashiro continues to share his problems that perhaps the person he thought he cared for isn't the right one...Sempai takes this as an invitation and kisses him. Mashiro questions his feelings and wonders is Sempai would be better for him. He thinks himself bad and hypocritical, albeit confused.

Mashiro learns that Sou's sister (also in the dream) goes to a girls' school across town, and he thought students in the dream had to go to his school. In the dream she reveals more of her and Sou's chlidhood and how they need each other, because they have a mother who cares more for her career than for them. She also reveals that Sou's first time was with her and that the only reason he goes to other girls is to escape the reality that they belong together. This confession forces Mashiro from the dream, and Sou is angry that his sister spilled the secret. Mashiro confronts Sou and says it sickens him about the truth with his sister and that he doesn't want to see him with others because he loves him. We are left with Sou's stunned expression and his sister's worried one.(less)

After a long wait, things are finally starting to happen again in the world of After School Nightmare! Mashiro is finally starting to come to terms with his/her double gender & starts to make tentative moves towards the person of her choice. Meanwhile, Kureha also starts trying to make progress with her past as well as trying to move forward with... Sou?

I tried to put down as much as I could without spoiling anything, since half of the fun of this series is seeing what the author can throw...more

Ichijo's still angsting. Am I boy or a girl? Though he explains in this one that his top half is XY and his bottom half is XX. Which is at least an explanation. But it still doesn't tell me why he doesn't have boobs yet.

He decides to show annoying guy himself dressed up in a girl's uniform. But, uhoh, kendo sempai shows up instead! And is, like, totally cool with him being half boy and half girl. Or seems to be anyway.

There is a kiss in Ichijo's future!

I'm glad that the sempai is in it more and has HIS story, now. Plus, we learned even more about Kureha who really annoyed me, before.

Things happened really fast and randomly, though! I hope they prove to have a point in the next one. As of now, I'm confused but happy? Well... it all depends on what happens in the next volume.

Marchio is finally coming to terms in alot in this book, his sexuality, his love life and beyond his social life. This book is very shocking, very controversy.

So far this is the best book out of After School Nightmare. I love the author, characters, plot, pictures, and the oddness of the whole book.

I can't wait to read volume 8 of this series.

I have so far been entertained by the surrealistic dreams and Mashiro's gender-conflict, but this volume found just about everyone behaving like an idiot, which is less enchanting. I'm still dying to find out what happens next though.
