Like all of her novels, this one is well-written and entertaining. Zapped is a quick paced mystery/suspense that can, if one is able, be read in one sitting; however, I didn`t have that luxury. The cast of characters can become confusing as the plot develops and more people become involved. The author jumps from one character/story line to another, generally doing so in separate chapters, so I found myself having to refresh my memory as to which character was which, especially when it came to More...

Not a bad read. It did take a while for me to get into this one. I think I bought it during the holidays because I had forgotten to bring a book to read during breaks and transit, and it was one of the only ones at the gift shop that wasn't torn, scuffed, or something I already owned. So it sat on the bottom of my backpack for a while, mostly because it was a little tough to start. The last week, however, I forced myself to finish it, and towards the end, I couldn't put it down! It seems kind of More...

Two different groups want to break into Jack and Regan Reilly's New York loft the night of the blackout--but that's not the crime that really concerns the duo, he head of the Major Crimes Unit and she a private investigator. It's what Regan learns about Georgina, a convention-attendee who has a habit of picking up blond young men and branding their arms. Georgina has just dumped Regan's friend Kit (temporarily on crutches) at a comedy club, and gone off with Chip Jones, young and blond. Can More...

A fluffy novel, big on coincidence, and built on unreasonable overreactions. For example, why didn't Lorraine Lily just phone the Reillys, explain the situation, and ask to retrieve her items from the hidden safe rather than attempt breaking into their apartment. The items and cash in the safe were legitimately hers, and the Reillys seemed like reasonable people.

Similarly, the bungled attempt at breaking into the hidden safe by Arthur (via Wally) could have been done easily during w More...

i really loved this book! its the type of book that would make a good tv movie or movie where there are characters who need to get something or have to help someone and time is limited. in this case, there are 4 main sets of characters. t he reilley's. are the main couple. it happens on a night of a major blackout. there are two sets of criminals, a lady who came back from out of the country that found out her soon to be ex sold an apartment and she desperatly needs something, as of to whic More...

she is defintly nothing like her mother as a writer. this book was so predictable and overly coincidental that it was unbelievable. she even put in some coincidences that really did not need to be in there and the book would have been fine if not better without having them. it's fine to have 1 or two coincidences in a book and even a couple of random things were you go - oh that is cool how that worked out but to have a whole book and story line based on that was just ridiculous,

I may have found a new "favorite" author!

Zapped is a fast-paced, humorous mystery/detective story with just enough romance and adventure to compel quick page turning. Regan Reilly is a private investigator whose husband Jack is head of the Major Case Squad (or something like that) for the NYPD. Multiple plot threads weave together in a sometimes hilarious, sometimes terrifying, always interesting adventure.

I can't wait to go back and read some of the author's

Just finished this book, I really enjoyed it. I LOVE her style of writing. So easy to follow and enjoyable. This is my 5th Carol Higgins Clark book and I loved every one of them. I look forward to reading all the rest of her books as well. Really enjoyable characters in this book well all of them except for Georgina. She is nuts but the storyline was great ... check her out if you haven't read any CHC books, you won't be sorry!

I love most of these cheesy Regan Reilly mysteries. This one is set in NYC during a blackout. It is a far cry from the darker thrillers I usually read. There are three interwoven crimes, though only two get major play, an attempted theft in the Reilly household and a psychotic woman going around branding, "I am a Snake" on handsome blonde men. I read it on an airplane, and it's pretty much the perfect airport book.

Can authors get published by nepotism? Because this was very poorly written and not very engaging in terms of plot. Also, it was aggravating how it changed point of view every chapter and most of the time I didn't remember who the characters were that were named at the beginning of the chapter. I did enjoy the setting-- NYC in a blackout--I've experienced a few of those.

There are no minus stars here, unfortunately, with which to express how much I enjoyed reading this fascinatingly awful book--I don't think I have ever read a book that adheres to every possible cliche of bad writing. I couldn't put it down. I followed people around with it and read excerpts out loud at them. It was just terrible.

I don't know why I still keep coming back to CHC, maybe I hope that one day she will get better. It hasn't happened yet but I found it is much easier to listen to her books.

The one thing that I struggle with is that the stories are all contrived. Somehow everyone that Regan runs into knows everyone else, or just happens to know the right information. I understand that occasionally this has to happen in a mystery novel but this was just too much for me.

Ick! What a shallow book, with 'quirky' characters so contrived that I could never sink into the book. I'm trying to read some bigger names of popular novels to get more acquainted with authors I haven't read. Now I know... and never again; there are so many better books I could spend my time on.

Set post Jack and Regan's honeymoon in 2003 blackout New York. Clark writes with charm, and creates likeable characters. That said, there are coincidences in this book that beggar belief. All in all, I enjoyed it, but a person's willing suspension of disbelief has to be pretty darn willing.

I had not read anything by this author. Probably won't again.
The story was mediocre. Nothing exciting. Nothing suspenseful. There were many strange storylines in this book. One of the storylines reminded me of the Three Stooges. Mind you, I didn't like The Three Stooges. They were so corny and not even funny.
Why did I pick this book? Well, I'm in a book challenge to read one book from every letter in the alphabet. Other than that, now I know why I never read a Carol Higgins Clark.

Stinker! This book was formulaic and contrived. It seems that writing a well-constructed book can be learned, but the ability to infuse passion and life into a story is a gift Carol Higgins Clark has not been given.

This is just my pet peeve, but the title? Zapped? Really?

This was a fun book and a quick read. I chose to take it with me to read on a flight because of it's size and because you pretty much cannot go wrong with a Carol Higgins-Clark novel. It was the perfect travelling companion.

This one was not one of her better books. I had it all figured out in the first couple of chapters. However, I still wanted to read to the end of the book just to see the details of how they got the bad guys. Get this one from the library, don't buy it.

I couldn't even finish reading it, to be honest. I felt as though I was being spoon-fed from her simplistic writing, and I just found that unenjoyable. I made it about 60 pages in before I decided to give up on it.

Hated it. This lady is a terrible author and I think the only reason she gets published is because her mother is famous. The only reason I read this is because my mom had it on her shelf. What a waste!

Horrible! Wow, really just that bad. I've read a bunch of her books and truly was so disappointed in this one. Totally predictable and too coincidental. I was really surprised that she wrote this horribly. I would definitely not recommend this one.

This is an enjoyable book, although somewhat shallow. I do not think Carol Higgins Clark is as good at mystery writing as her mother, Mary Higgins Clark. It is a light read and entertaining.

It was a very good reading. If you like her Regan Reilly Mystery books, you will enjoy this latest one. I loved the part when everyone pitched in to help solve the mystery.

What a terrific team Jack and Regan make both as a couple and as Cop/Investigator. This book had me right from page one to the very end. It had everything from crime solving to humour to suspense. I really enjoyed it!

A quick fun read. Only took me a few hours and was very enjoyable. Especially great if you don't want to have to think in-depth but want some good escapism entertainment.
