One and one half stars. Boy, did I have expectations for this book! I read the glowing reviews, and the outline of the plot sounded very interesting. I won't reiterate the plot since it's in nearly every other review.
This could have been a really good book. Complicated plot. Plenty of angst and conflict to go around. Lots of opportunity for redemption. Love conquering all. But I simply could not get into it. I began wondering if this book could be part of a series, because I felt as More...

The single thing that stuck with me about this book after I read it was how incredibly miserable every single person seemed to be. They either came from a horrible childhood (the hero), were just incredibly unhappy with love (the hero's best friend), were mean-spirited, petty and jealous (the heroine, niece), was just plain evil (the hero's father-figure) or had a ginormous martyr complex (the heroine).

OK but I wouldn't recommend it.
What I liked: The plot was good. The characters were great. I liked Jack's lust and love for Anne from the beginning. I liked Anne's intelligence and thieving skills and her ability to figure out who had the missing letter. I liked some of the plot twists. I liked the scene describing how Jamison first met and took Jack as his son from a workhouse.
What I did not like: The ending was unfinished. I wanted to know where they would go an More...

This book never really sucked me in and I'm not sure why. Seward was a really compelling hero; he was so in love, and so ashamed of his feelings...incredibly strong but still oddly bashful. He's gorgeous, but his voice is raspy because he was hung (on a noose) for two minutes, and he has a crippled hand. Very stiff, bottled up, proper, yet really believably ruthless and passionate.
I liked Anne quite a bit as well but I expect that she's the one I had the problem with. I just didn't bu More...

I first picked up this book over ten years ago when I was about eleven. I remember that my sister-in-law, who was living with us, had borrowed it from the library. As such, this was quite possibly the first romance I had ever been aware of. I didn't read the story in it's entirety back then because my mother found me out and was scandalized that I was reading a "sex novel", but from what I had read, I was intrigued. The title stuck with me, along with the scene in which Jack is all tie

I am pretty sure that I read this a few years ago when I first investigated genre romances, but as I failed to record that date read, I am going to put it down as a 2009 book. This is one of those books that most of my friends love, but it left me cold. I loved the idea of it--lady thief! angsty detective on her trail!--but the execution was just a bit too overwrought. Possibly this is why it didn't make an impression on me the first time around in 2004ish.

A hardened spy falls for a society widow who has a secret life as a thief; much of the intrigue revolves around a "burn after reading" type letter. While this could have been a lighthearted romp, Brockway makes the characters really, really tortured instead, so at the middle of the book they nearly kill each other or something. I usually like tortured characters and these kinds of plots but somehow this wasn't a keeper for me, and I'm not sure why.

The first half of All Through the Night was okay, but the second half was far more interesting. The second half reminded me of film noir. I did feel that the story ended a little too soon for me as I really liked the hero and heroine together.

OMG! This is really bad. The characters were stupid, hardly a piece of historical fact in the book that relates to the novel. Really bad!! I also tried another title and it was worse. Barely finished this book.

Best naughty sex scene in a library ever! One of my all time favorite historical romance. There's angst, brooding sexy hero, angst, sexual desire and more angst.
Full of awesomesauce.

One of the best Romances I have ever read. By turns suspenseful, emotional, and dark, Brockway knocks it out of the park with this one. Cannot recommend this one highly enough.

Wonderful. But the ending was a bit...abrupt. Questioning. I felt a slight sense of..."so...that's it? What happened????" but otherwise great story. 4.5 stars really.

Anne was a thief by night, widow by day, and Jack was drawn to the woman and hunted the thief. This was my first Connie Brockway book and I loved it!

I liked this book until the part where Anne just seemed to give up. I thought she would have fought more but she just got all meek and quiet. Kind of disappointing.

Kind of dramatic story of thieves and spies, but the characters were complex and believably adult, and I cared about what happened to them.

3.5* The writing is wonderful and the plot intricate. I'm taking off a star because on the whole the book is depressingly dark, filled with angst, stress, and unhappy people playing roles. The reader is only privy to the briefest time of peace for the main characters at the end of the book. So while I applaud the writing and the mesmerizing story, this book wasn't so much entertaining for me as it was exhausting. ;-)

I just couldn't get into this. When she was a thief their relationship was fun and exciting. Unfortunately most of the first half was spent with her being a boring widdow.
