Before beginning this collection, I had read many scholars who proclaimed this to be Marge Piercy's finest collection of poetry. While I still have a few more collections to read before I can agree with these academics, I can fairly state that it is my favorite thus far. Piercy's angry feminist tone is softened, and her verse is much more lyrical, rich with figurative language. Trigger warning: sexual assault.
