An excellent book about the first female plebes admitted to the US Naval Academy. Their trials, their tribulations, and their overcoming of obstacles, both physically and mentally in a male-dominated institution.

Written by a high school friend on mine, this recalls her years in the Naval Academy in the first class to accept women. A unique experience is shared along with the personal struggle to succeed.

Smitty recommended this book to me. It's an account of the first class of women admitted to the Naval Academy in 1986 and a very good read. The main character of Sarah is based upon the author, while the other character of Kate is based upon a few other young women. This book taught me I wouldn't be good at being this kind of trailblazer. The Academy admitted women, but weren't quite sure what to do with them. The stress these girls were under! Ugh!
