The Lion King is about a family of lions that go through a difficult time. The son (Simba) of the head lion (Mufasa) must step up and take over the family, but first he must over come his own self doubt. This is a great story for primary children, ages 5-8.The Lion King has good versus evil where good is the winner. The artist of this story did a great job. The pictures are big and colorful and can easily grab the child's attention. The pictures all help the child understand what is going on in...more

This is a really good book. The preschoolers I worked with for a placement would always ask me to read this book to them. I never got to finish it though because it is a little long and the children would ask me to read it during times where I only had about 10-15 minutes to read to them before it was time to change activities. So if there is a shorter version of it I would suggest that one for the smaller ones who have seen the movie. They will definitely enjoy it!

Lets just say that its hard to beat the original. I am sure that everyone remembers watching the movie "The Lion King". Its a very memorable movie and for some, admittedly me, it can be better that the book itself. The movie had to originate from somewhere and I am glad that is stuck very close to the book. The characters are the same and the events are the same. There was something about the images that captivated me and although there are a few sad moments in the book, the final mood is happy

This capsulaized version is entertaining for children but leaves out too much content for older children.
