Few lives have been more eventful and controversial than Protima Bedi's, and this book, derived from her unfinished autobiography, journals and her letters to family, friends and lovers, is a startlingly frank and passionate memoir. Illustrated with over fifty photographs, this is the story of a remarkable woman who had the spirit, the courage and the intelligence to live...more

The book seems to be a bouncing board for Protima Bedi.

I have always been a big fan of Protima Bedi. Her passion for dance, her rebellious nature, and her following-her-heart attitude always made me look at this beautiful woman in wonder and awe.

However, while reading the book, I couldn't understand certain aspects of her personality and the reason of mentiong certain things in the book. Inception of the book is with her saying that she doesn't have any complains with anyone but actually through...more

Though I've been eyeing it for a long time, I picked up this book from my lending library on a day when I was particularly in a "I am-just-going-to-follow-my-heart" state of mind.

The book is a collection of letters and excerpts from Protima Bedi’s journals. She wished to publish her Autobiography someday but little did she know that it would be published posthumously.
The presentation of the book is as raw and as simple as Protima Bedi’s outlook towards life. The book does not carry any air of t...more

I was recommended by a friend to try out this book just to have a small glimpse of the famous dancer Protima Bedi.
Although Protima Bedi 'was' unconventional and 'was truly' a free spirit, she struck me as someone possessing oodles of self pity which is rather surprising in a supposedly strong lady. Right from the beginning, we are introduced to her childhood where she speaks about her unsupportive family who constantly tease her and laugh at her. This instills in her a great determination to pr...more

I liked this book just because this lady did something unconventional and would applaud her for that. She followed her heart, which is rare in a closed up society like ours. However in all her memoirs she doesn't really talk much about charity, or about the wars that were happening at that time. She completely neglects such things. She was too messed up in her pretty little world, it gave her no time to think of something bigger, substantial.
Always moving along with her relationships, breaking...more

If juicy gossip is what you're looking for, you could consider grabbing a copy of Timepass. With stories of all her sexual exploits narrated in detail with men ranging from Rajni Patel, Vasanth Sathe and many others and her efforts at setting up Nrityagram in Bangalore (after learning Odissi at the age of 26 from the legendary Kelucharan Mohapatra), Timepass is a racy read. Her own doubts about her efficacy as a mother towards her kids, somehow makes the reader unsympathetic to her saga.

I mostly never read a non fiction book unless & until someone strongly recommends it. I picked up the book Timepass just for the heck of it.I knew Protima Bedi only as Kabir Bedi's ex wife & Pooja Bedi's mother. After reading the book (completed in 1 day of marathon reading) I was bowled over... Protima Bedi was a free spirit... that the only identity I would want to remember her for...

The book is just what the title promises it to be, Timepass. It does not disappoint. Craftily edited by Protima's daughter Pooja Bedi, it is an unabashed and bold version of Protima's encounter with life. Slightly stretched towards the end entertaining nevertheless.

One of the liberating fun books which also urge one to find happiness within oneself. Once you pick this, you wont stop until you finish it. Definitely a good read!

As the title reads, it is "timepass", probably just a "read and forget" kind of a book.
