'A great writer is among us,' declares the Milwaukee Journal on the cover of this Popular Library paperback. Damn those Badgers, they got it right. Nabokov could write about his childhood crayon set and it would seem profound. (In fact, he does. And it does.)

A collection of great short stories. Some of them rank as mindblowers. However, I wouldn't try to read cover to cover. I've made this mistake before. That's not how shorts are meant to be digested. You grow tired of it no matter how good each story is.

Oh man. I gave both Pale Fire and Lolita five stars. However, this is a collection of what must be Vladimir Nabokov's worst stories ever. Stay away.

Not as much fun as turgenev's short stories, if you ask me. To be honest, i don't remember too many from this collection.
