A documentarian rather than a traditional photojournalist, Leonard's work often is rather pedestrian from a technical standpoint. But this collection roams far afield, from a grip-and-grin at the Staples Center groundbreaking to a gay pride parade, a free clinic, a barrio public pool and a black church. This really does serve as a snapshot of L.A.
The photographer visited the class I was TAing for. He was quite a character!
