Resurrecting Midnight (Gideon Series #4)
International assassin Gideon spilled blood for the first time when he was seven years old, with a single shot to the head of a man who was attempting to kill the woman Gideon had known as his mother. The victim was none other than his own father, a man of unspeakable evil. This pivotal event shaped Gideon throughout his life, made him who he is, one of the fiercest, most...more

Gideon Rocks...
...and so does Eric Jerome Dickey! Like all the novels in the Gideon series (Sleeping With Strangers, Waking With Enemies, Dying for Revenge), Dickey's latest is a first-rate story; an explosive, nerve-tingling page-turner.
"Resurrecting Midnight" follows everyone's favorite assassin-for-hire, Gideon. His latest assignment, a result of a debt that has to be paid, takes him to South America to obtain and secure a package. A package that is wanted by many. A package that many will k...more

This book is far from being a “good” book. The storyline is interesting and the characters are well developed, but the attention to detail ruins it all. The author puts in so many details that you forget what is going on. For example anytime that someone is in a car, he lists every street and neighborhood that the character passes. He doesn’t usually describe the area, just lists the streets. Then when the character arrives every store in the area is listed. It is almost as if the author is show...more
As of today i read nearly all of EJD books. but the first book by him that i read was sleeping with strangers. I finished the book in one day because i literally couldnt put it down. the whole gideon series is sooo good. And the books only got better and better. I do feel like sometimes he tries to go over his readers heads as an arrogant "im smarter than you" type of thing. I like the travelling but it was too much and someone like me who doesnt even have a passport cannot relate. And the chara...more
Great book from a great author. Ths Gideon character has a tremendous makeup from the first book through this (book #4) and I've never seen a character have more mixed-up DNA than this fellow and I'm surprised that this assassin hasn't put a gun to his own head...LOL! Once again, Dickey is the master at making the story real and bringing the action and romance and locale to life on the pages of the book. I felt like I could feel the action in Buenes Aires and hear the music blaring from the club...more
Overall I thought the book ok.
I don't read a lot of Eric Jerome books and if felt like you need to be a fan of his writing to really enjoy.
Not knowing that this book was a series, i was a little frustrated at all the references to previous books.
I also don't like books that create specific imagery for me....like he looked like Troy P from Pittsburgh or she looked like Halle Berry.
The sex was pretty intense but from other EJD fans I know this is standard for the books.

Since I'm familiar with EJD books I knew what to expect with Resurrecting Midnight, and I got just that. The fourth, and maybe not so final, installment to the Gideon serious rounded out nicely. All of the stories that I cared about had some resolution, and the 'major' plot line (being Gideon's parentage) left an avenue for more books to be written in this series. Books that I undoubtedly will read because, let's face it, EJD novels are a guilty pleasure I'm not giving up anytime soon.

I finally finished the Gideon trilogy and I feel real good about it. This book was another exciting read taking place in the U.S. and in South America,Argentina to be exact. In the earlier books Gideon's father was always considered to be dead. But, EJD introduces the readers to Medianoche, or Midnight in English considered to be Gideon's father. It was the climatic scene when they crossed paths and was beating up each other within mere inches of their lives. They were seriously trying to kill e...more
This installment from Dickey on Gideon was taken to a new level with the characters involved. The connections to the series remained in tact; the characters in this store were very compelling. Gideon finally has some humanity, for a moment or two. Dion Graham does a great job with his unique way of reading. Very fitting for this story. As always Dion Graham perfomed perfectly. I could never spend time just reading the context but it makes for entertainment while doing other things. Loved the aud...more
Great story, very poorly written. The porn scenes errrrr I mean sex scenes between Hawks and Gideon or Midnight and Senorita Raven were just plain terrible. I don't know why Eric would include such trash in the novel. It was page after page of absolute crap writing. Eric, just buy a Penthouse and read the Forum and you can have all your fill.
The story was very compelling, and the SOB EJD gives you enough were you are thinking hmmmm what happens next to Gideon and Medianoche (Mightnight)

It was a good book. It got kind of repetitive and there were parts I just didn't want to believe. I think I would have liked the book would have had some different decisions in it. I liked the twists and turns it provided. I enjoyed the read and the story but I think that since I don't have a history in assassins it was hard for me to understand why they did what they did. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys an action packed book with some hardcore sexual themes (not romance).
I don't generally like the Hemingway-esque style of writing with short, choppy sentences. I don't generally care much for the Raymond Chandler / Pulp Fiction style of writing that also employs those short, choppy sentences. However, Dickey creates characters that, though you don't love them, matter to you. They are complex, they are human, even when their humanity is lacking. They may not be realistic, but they are real. The plot is complex and twisted. For much of the book, there seem to be two...more
I never thought I would enjoy reading about an assassin, but Gideon has me hooked. Although, Resurrecting Midnight is listed as the last book in the Gideon series I have a feeling we will all have the pleasure of reading more about Gideon and his assignments. FUNDS TRANSFERRED

EJD has done it again! Another action pack piece in the Gideon Saga. It was amazing from start to finish. Now as the story unfolds we get to see deeper into Gideon's history and what made him who he is. Again we are taken to exotic locations, filled with non-stop action and excitement, and of course some steamy erotica...what's an EJD novel without some amazing sex. Can't wait for the next installment!
Meeting back up with Gideon and his past escapades. He has now decided to find out about his childhood and his relationship with Thelma. Worries from being blackmail, Arizona and her baby's daddy and working a professional job that leaves him not only in great physical pain but has him meeting up with a man who he thought he murdered years ago. The experience left cool, calm and collected Gideon shakened.
This is a story that had a classic Oedipal conflict between father, son and mother, set in South America amongst a group of would be assassins. It was that plot that kept me reading this rather boorish novel. The author left his best writing for several explicitly described sex scenes and gruesome scenes of torture. While supposedly critiquing patriarchy and misogyny, his fascination with male sexuality showed his true colors. The novel ends with the possibility of a sequel. Having survived this...more
I'm a fan of the Gideon series and I thought the plot was pretty good but this book could have been about 50 pages shorter if all the attention to inconsequential details had been left out. Its one thing to paint a picture so the reader feels like they're there. That's not was happening in this book. Its almost like the author fell in love with the location, then built the story around it.
I. Love. Me. Some. Gideon. Oh Gosh. I have a love/hate relationship with how it ended. So many questions.
There was a lot going on. Maybe too much going on but I was able to keep up. I loved it. It was hard for me to put down. The only thing I didn't like was Gideon's constant battle with Midnight and the DNA results. Like kill him or shut the hell up. Open up the damn envelope!

Was very surprised by this book. I was not an EJD fan, I'd read "Chasing Destiny" and was less than awed. By Chapter 3 of this book, I was very intrigued by the plot. Aside from a wee-bit-too-long-action-sequence to start the final showdown, this book was GREAT. I think BOTH men and women would enjoy this book. When is book 5 coming out? LOTS of loose ends.
This book was okay. I think it could have had a better ending. It seems that there will be another book to the Gideon series but this book did not leave me looking forward to the release of the next book. There were some very interesting parts and then there were some very dry parts. I will probably still read the next one regardless though. There has to be some kind of conclusion eventually.

i really enjoyed this book and the series. I thought that the book was exciting, and their is an aclectic group of charecters that all had their different backgrounds. What I learned from this book was that their is a different world of assasins. I had a new understanding of the type of life style that these indaviduals go threw.
Just finished 646 pages (large print) of this book and never plan on reading another one by Dickey. This story went on ad infinitum and then solved absolutely nothing. What a waste of my time. Apparently, it has been designed like a never ending soap opera.
Don't think I have ever been this disappointed in a book I have read!

Very good book. I took me a while to read it, longer than usual because I was so busy last semester. However, EJD has really stepped his writing game up with the Gideon series. I keep imagining how he looks in my head. I want to meet him. Thats how in depth the character is.
Another great novel by EJD! The Gideon series has kept me well entertained. This book was definitely a pager turner and full of action. While I did like the book, it wasn't my favorite of the Gideon series. I think Waking With Enemies was the best of the four books, but all in all, this I LOVED this series and I LOVE Gideon and can't wait until the next book comes out!
