DC comics gets into the shojo manga business with these series of american manga, which are rather ghettoed into a Minx Line, which seems a bit odd, but there you go. This one's written by Mike Carey, who you may know best from Hellrazer, and two others I've not heard of before.

Dixie is a Korean-American girl who studies martial arts and has a huge crush on Adam, another student in her martial arts class. For his birthday, she buys him a statue of a Korean fighter with her entrance fee money for the big competition. Unfortunately, Adam doesn't appreciate her gift and re-gifts it, and Dixie has to come up with the money for the entrance fee. A nice story with an interesting twist. I like the character of Dixie - she is a strong funny girl. And the ending is great!

I liked this one. A great girl message to not become something different just to get the guy. It is still weird to me to see character development in a comic, but this one really showed how Dixie grew as an individual by the end of the book. Another good one for the girls.

Absolutely awesome story about cultural and peer conflicts on a young Asian girl who kicks ass at martial arts.

This is my favorite of the Minx (imprint) comics that I've read so far. The story, the art, everything about this one was great.
