If you have tried Japanese food before you still might realise that there is a lot more to it than just Sushi. Of course, you might also still think it is very difficult or involved to make. Maybe this book will help broaden your horizons and let you have a go making good Japanese food in your own home kitchen.

I thought with 'American kitchen' in the name, the ingredients would be easy to find. Since coming back from Japan, I haven't see. Amy of the ingredients in the recipes at a regular supermarket. I'll check this out before I next go to the Asian supermarket.

I really liked how she organized the book into sections based on specific sauces.

Recipes:
* Corn and ginger rice - the best!!!
* Curried tofu squares were not that great
* chilled zucchini and celairic soup was great!
* Chilled edamame soup - threw it away
* udon with miso-eggplant ragu - great!
* kale in peanut butter-tofu sauce - was unusual; liked it but not with the kale

I'm reading Hiroko's American Kitchen: Cooking with Japanese Flavors for my interview with Hiroko Shimbo tomorrow, Oct. 17, 2012 3 pm ET on The Halli Casser-Jayne Show, Talk Radio for Fine Minds. I love the sauce recipes she offers. You can listen live here or as a podcast. http://bit.ly/U4EEMd
