A quaint little village in England, an ancient well, a legendary treasure. All the ingredients to attract the Doctor who really just stopped for scones and jam. This is a Martha book but really, it could have been any companion, it was more a Doctor and alien sentient thing book. Good plot, nice characterization of the Doctor, not too manic, just right. Much better than the last ones I've read but a bit disappointed that this one again didn't "get" Martha as a character.

Not a bad little read here. Some of the locals, though very annoying, remind me of "The Stones of Blood". The mystery and atmosphere are nice, though the "running from a monster" sequence gets a bit tiresome. Also, the end is a bit too happy sappy as well. Still, well written, solid read.

Another wonderful Ten & Martha installment with lots of great, in-character action, a fabulous supporting cast, and a genuinely creepy monster. And, of course, the obligatory sly Old-School nods. :-) This one would've made a really fun episode.

Pretty solid. It wasn't especially special, but it would have done well as an episode. Pretty good characterization of the Doctor and Martha, with good supporting characters.
