I would give this 3.5 stars.

I really enjoyed this book. Being from Liverpool myself I found the language and phrasing used by the main character to be on point, particularly for that period of time. I liked the nice steady build up in the story and will look forward to reading more books by this author.

The Beatles subplot is really the least interesting thing about this book, and probably the weakest. That said, the story of a spunky Liverpool girl trying to make it as a photographer in London and the semi-crooked but good-hearted cop she meets there is a pretty damn good one.
