Each of these little books is witty and dramatic and creates a sense of time, place, and character....I cannot think of a better way to introduce oneself and one s friends to Western civilization. Katherine A. Powers, "Boston Globe." Well-written, clear and informed, they have a breezy wit about them....I find them hard to stop reading. Richard Bernstein, "New York Times." ...more

This book goes out of its way to ensure that once those 90 minutes are up you won't want to read any Derrida. He was a very polarizing thinker, but if you just read the snide assessments of his work here, you'd think he was an idiot with idiotic ideas and an idiotic following. For people looking for an "introduction" to Derrida, "Derrida for Beginners" is great and actually attempts to be unbiased and despite the format (graphic novel) is a surprisingly in depth analysis of his books.

I wasn't particularly impressed by this book... though Derrida is inherently difficult to understand, I felt that the author's understanding was flawed and overly simplistic in many ways. The historical information was very helpful, though.

Who can be expected to EVER understand Derrida? Especially in only 90 minutes!?! Nonetheless, the book provides a good assessment of Derrida's life and major ideas/works.

Derrida in 90 Minutes by Paul Strathern is probably one of the most narcissistic and shamelessly careless books I have ever read.

come prepared, it bashes Derrida relentlessly. I still kinda liked it cuz it still offers a perspective, no matter how skewed. you wouldn't want to know Derrida's work through this one, nah!
