Deep in the soul of every person on earth is a longing for the presence of God. The heart of every human being strives toward God, but only the redeemed can overcome the great barriers between God and man. For the greatest barrier of all is the conflict between man's desire for God and his sinful desire to please himself. "Experiencing the Presence of God "is a never-befor ...more

My 1st journey with Tozer and I truly enjoyed his look at the Bible and how to use it with our daily walk with God; this is an excellent read for anyone wanting to gain a better understanding into what they need to do to hear God more in their life. It is however not an in-depth look at the book of Hebrews as the title might imply. It simply uses Hebrews as a medium for the subject itself.

I can't imagine reading this. I am so sick of Christian platitudes and bullshit. I'm convinced that Christians are responsible, whether directly or indirectly, for most of the misery and suffering in our society. In case you wonder, I grew up protestant Christian. I was a member of PCUSA and the Evangelical Covenant Churches. Then I converted to Catholicism three years ago. About a year ago I dragged myself kicking and screaming away from the hypocrasy and ethical abrogation that is so much of m ...more

This study is about the majesty of the Lord. We have lost this even in the church due to how we look at others. We are created in the image of God. We have lost the value of man by placing the value of man in man's indentity instead of the image of God. There is a cost because anything of value of does have a cost. We are valuable to the Lord. Look at the high cost he made in our behalf. The cost for us is less of me, more of Christ. The trinity was shown very well in this study and how they wor ...more

I liked this book, but was not overwhelmed by it. But I'm not sure that's fair. I made many notes while reading it and have already referred to some of them for my presentations, but have I experienced the presence of God? No sure yet - I'm going to keep relying on both wings of the bird: trust and obedience. God is there, and I know God is always present. I would like a deeper indwelling, or something. I can't quite put my finger on it.

Tower addresses in this book the key issues of personal spirituality, church life and the Christian in secular culture. The meditations are built around key texts from the book of Hebrews. His clarity on these issues would cause many modern readers to wince but it is a clarion call to those wanting to live all out for Jesus.

There were several motifs that provide continuity to the book. 1) The need for Word based living. 2) The rejection of entertainment and worldly preoccupations as cheap imitat

Straight talk,if you want experience God's presence

The Autor ,did a deep study on the book oh Hebrews, and with a passionate style of straight talk ,demonstrate the weakness of the church today and the need of everyone of us as Christians to take God's kingdom and our commitment to serve and witness seriously.
El Autor, nos presenta un studio profundo del libro de Hebreos,y con un estilo apasionado y hablando de manera directa, nos demuestra las debilidades de la Iglesia de Hoy y la necesidad de que

Tozer is undoubtedly in my top five favorite authors. I am driven to my knees and to the Bible every time I read a chapter by him.

Going through Hebrews with Tozer was a treat, but the final chapter of this book was (hands-down, without a doubt) the best chapter on a personal walk with the personal God. It contained the best thoughts I've ever been blessed to read on the topic!

Tozer begins each chapter/topic with a short portion of Scripture and ends with an appropriate hymn. I appreciate his emp

My first Tozer read. A bit heady at times, but worth the work for gems like these:

"'The just shall live by faith,' not the just shall live by his feelings."

"There are those who would instruct us to empty our minds...and focus within. There is nothing within anybody's soul worth meditating upon. True meditation begins with the Word of God."

Wonderful book that stirs the heart to seek God. Tower saw the need in his day for the church to rediscover its awe of God. His message is so relevant for our times.

After coming to Christ at the age of seventeen, Tozer found his way into the Christian & Missionary Alliance denomination where he served for over forty years. “The present generation of Christians has suffered what I call the lost concept of majesty. This has come about by a slow decline, manifesting itself in our depreciation of ourselves. Those who hold a low value of man have a corresponding low value of God. After all, God created man in His own image. When we cease to understand the majestic nature of man, we cease to appreciate the majesty of God. How” 0 likes
“The great labor of the Church has always been to get people to give serious attention to spiritual matters. A great many pastors and preachers do not worry about this at all, because they do not expect anything and, therefore, they do not get it. But a man of God, with the burden of the Holy Spirit on him, will want to stir the people to serious attention. Until serious attention has been given to the claims of Christ, it is for us as if the Bible had never been written.” 0 likes
