Joy Fielding is one of my favourite authors and I always jump at the chance to pick up her latest. This one did not disappoint. It's about a small town sheriff who is on the hunt for a killer after 3 young woman were killed.

There is not much to say about this one because it's really not that deep. I especially liked that this was a very fast read, like all her books usually are. And even though I figured out who the killer was about half-way through that did not slow my pace at all because...more

HUGE disappointment. I've never read anything by Fielding before, and not sure I will again. The cover copy seemed quite promising as I tend to enjoy suspense novels and serial killer thrillers. But I was able to figure out who the killer was within the first 100 pages, so the following 500 were a bit plodding for me. There also seemed to be a lot of soapbox passages, especially when it came to body image in girls and women, which I felt were completely unnecessary and too much repetition. ...more

Fielding writes mysteries that are usually focused more on the female audience than the other authors I read, but she keeps grabbing me. Why? Well, even though there's a lot of time spent on relationships, she makes them interesting and quirky, and keeps most of the sappiness out.
She's had some great twists in her books. Although many are "woman in distress", they often do not play out to formula. My favorite was the one where the narrator spent the whole book describing how she bel...more

One thing in this book constantly drove me insane. One of the characters is supposed to be so fat that people constantly make fun of her, and the author is always describing her big flabby legs rubbing together, and things like that. BUT, she is described as being twenty pounds lighter than me, and the same height. I'm a SIZE 12. Which means that this character would be what, a size eight? or something. Seriously... the author should do her homework about weight.
ugh.

plus I guessed the end...more

I have always enjoyed Joy Fieldings books. In fact, the only thing that has ever bothered me about her books is that she wasn't able to write them fast enough. She has twists and turns in her plots and does a fantastic job of concealing "who done it" until the end. If you read this one, I am sure you will enjoy it too. (Another new hardcover from the library that I didn't have to pay $24.95 for or wait until it came out in paperback! Support your public library!!)

Good enough story. I liked how the killer journaled. That was neat. But then that narrowed down the suspects as well. There was a big clue about 100 or so pages into the book and I interpreted it correct. I liked how the killer fooled everyone and was different than most serial killers in books. I liked the open ending as well, that left me wondering. The book bored me a bit, though I can't quite put my finger on why. I'll try other books from this author.

It was good enough, definitely not a waste of time. It wasnt AS good as Charley's web and hard to keep going at parts, the ending was MUCH better then the rest of the book and made it worth it, and actually surprised me..which I didnt expect since a lot of reviews I read said it wasnt surprising haha maybe then I was looking to obvious.

The book is set in a small town in Florida, where a serial killer is on the loose. It is written both from the perspective of the people in the town and from that of the killer. While this book is rather long, I couldn't put it down. Lots of unexpected twists, especially regarding the identity of the killer. I never saw that one coming.

When beautiful teen girls begin disappearing in a small Florida town, the sheriff finds that he has more questions than answers.

Fielding creates suspense by using alternating accounts--a third person narrative and also the killer's own voice in the form of a journal. Fast-paced and entertaining. Makes a great beach read.

The ending was a bit dissapointing. I liked the plot, but it was not a strong as the other Joy Fielding books, perhaps there were too many characters and most of them were cliche (the sickly nurse's kid, the jock with the heart, the gay shy kid, the anorexic fat-cop's daughter) - I felt Joy knows better...

Heartstopper is a fast-moving mystery/suspense novel and the first I've read from this author. Joy Fielding's sharp wit and wicked mind channels nicely through the voices of her characters, so you may be surprised to find yourself empathizing with the most evil among them.

Great Book Joy Fielding never fails at pleasing the reader. She is a great writer and this book kept me interested until the end. Murder in a small town and it has twists and turns throughout. You won't want to put it down until you know who is quilty.

Entertaining and suspenseful with a twist ending. Characters are believable and it is easy to relate to most of them. Not a literary masterpiece, but the narrative gives multiple perspectives including the killer which is an interesting style.

I picked up this book in the airport after giving up on Greg Isles. I had read Fielding in the past, and thought why not. I couldn't put it down. A definite page turner. Good book for those that like suspense and mystery.

This was the first Joy Fielding book that I've read. Although it was pretty predictable it still held my attention. I finished it in 2 days (which is rare) It was just okay for me. I wasn't that impressed with it.

It's pretty good so far... I'll update when I finish.

It's one of the few 'serial killer' genre books I've read where I can't figure out who it actually is... but I have my suspicions.

I love serial killer novels. And this one certainly did not disappoint. The 'twist' ending is kind of guess-able but after reading this I would definitely read more by this author.

The outcome wasn't as surprising as her other books, I had a lead on this one which almost made it better to read, because I wanted to see if I was right.

A quick read with a bit of twist at the end. Just another book I picked up at the library while searching for new authors, nothing special about this one.
