A good chunk of practical advice for absolute beginners, which is how I would categorize myself. It is also a good chunk outdated--the author talks about how Compuserve (?!) can be a good resource for networking. Blast. From. The. Past. So, I'm not sure that everything is still good firm advice, but it is inspiring enough to make me think more about it and, of course, you are referred many times to The Writer's Market, which is an up-to-date goliath of advice and resources and practical info. There was a lot of helpful information, such as the quiz that helps readers decide whether a writing career is really for them. I also found it interesting in terms of the vast array of jobs that are out there. But, it was a bit outdated, and some of the information that I was most interested in was vague and not highly informative.
