Corinne Wasilewski
Lots of characters with one of a kind voices in this short story collection. I enjoyed their interesting slant on life. Lots of couples, husbands and wives who are complete opposites, with one, usually the wife, trying to eke out a little happiness within the confines of the marriage. If there's anything to be learned from this collection, I guess it would be to marry someone just like you. Or better yet, stay single.
These interesting vignettes capture some Newfoundland personality. I enjoyed the characters but found the writing uneven and sometimes hard to follow, especially in comparison to Winter's fabulous novel, Annabel.
Didn't actually finish all of them ... got tired of the tiny print & kind of depressing stories. Having loved Annabel, I wanted to like these more than I did.
