An ALA Guide for the busy librarian, this book is a series of short chapters, each dealing with a different challenge that you might face in an academic or public library setting. The five parts include: The Manager Role, Running a Library, Information Technology, Staff, and Public Relations.

Some of my favorite chapters included advice on: how to deal with unreturned library materials; merging multiple service points; grant writing; weeding; IT/Ref desk collaboration; and change management. Tru
I mostly skimmed this accessible compilation of very short and practical essays. I found the sections on training, team-building, and board relationships useful. Worth reading.
Most articles I found useful and interesting even if not entirely pertinent for my subject area and a few were spot-on and filled with solid, practical information. I would consider buying this for personal reference.
