I would like to take this opportunity to tell you something about Ty Andre’s incredible life, around which his autobiography, On My Brothers’ Shoulders is based. Ty’s life is one of the great survival stories of modern times. He was born sometime in 1952 in the South East Asia Country of Vietnam, in an area known as the Mekong Delta. As a newly-born baby, stricken with polio, Ty was abandoned one night by his young mother, who set him adrift on the Mekong River in a small basket, illuminated ...more

Ty’s life in Australia has been no less amazing. Not only has he managed to write his autobiography, as well as producing an accompanying documentary, “Return to The Mission in The Mekong Delta.” He is currently working on his second book, about his life and adventures in Australia and Overseas. His achievements are endless. He has brought up his son, Mathew, totally on his own as a single parent for over 20 years. He has mastered English, but he still needs help occasionally. He has survived ...more

Hello my honey, first of all I would like to thank you very much for kindly signing the precious copy of your book “On My Brothers’ Shoulders” that you gave to me. I am so proud of your clever skill that enabled you to write your book that has been made into an accompanying documentary “Return to the Mission in the Mekong Delta,” as well as turning your story into an audio book. I will keep all of these items as a good memory of our past genuine relationship, when we had our beautiful son, ...more

I thoroughly enjoyed reading your fantastic book On My Brothers’ Shoulders. I found it to be both inspirational and enthralling. I was shocked to see how bad the conditions were at the Mission. We take so much for granted here in Australia, without realising how bad things can be in poorer countries. It really opened my eyes to what life can be like outside Australia. I wish many other people could read your book and discover what life is like outside the fish bowl. In the past there were many ...more

I am so privileged to have read your autobiography "On My Brothers' Shoulders", which I enjoy immensely and I am also honoured to have watched the accompanying documentary “Return to the Mission in the Mekong Delta.” I rated your book with 5 stars, because I think your story is a great inspiration in these modern times. I would also like to purchase a copy of your AUDIO BOOK, because my neighbour is legally blind. I want to give it to him so he can listen to it instead. I hope your book can help ...more

This book “On My Brothers’ Shoulders and an accompanying one hour documentary “Return to The Mission in The Mekong Delta” including the audio book, is dedicated to my beautiful son Mathew Andre and my gorgeous baby grandson, who I am privileged to give Ty Andre to Nekau as his middle names and passes on the memory of my adopted father, who sadly passed away in 1997, that I love with all my kindness and devotion and whom I owe my life as do many other orphans from Vietnam and overseas. Ty André ...more

I wrote my autobiographical book called: “ON MY BROTHERS’ SHOULDERS," about when my young mother abandoned me, lovingly kissed me for the last time, placed me in a basket with a lit candle and set me adrift in a section of the Mekong Delta River in Vietnam, South East Asia called the Nine Dragons. She prayed to god for someone to rescue her son, so that he could have a better life. Fate intervened early the next morning, when an old fisherman heard the echo of a crying baby that was caught in ...more
