This book picks up right where Lord of the Fading Lands left off. Ellie is still participating in all the pre-wedding observances, the minion of the Eld Mage is still running around in various incarnations fomenting chaos, Rain is still trying to convince everyone the Eld Mages are returning to rain their dark magical terror and the fey are still surrounding Ellie in force trying to protect her.

This second book picks up where the first one "Lord of the Fading Lands" ended. Elysetta has to face her own mysterious magical abilities and the mistakes she makes being untrained in mastering them. Rain has a hard time to convince the Celierians that the Eld Mages are gaining power again and additionally he´s courting his True-mate Ellie..
Again I was captivated by this wonderful epic fantasy romance! Ellie is scared of her own powers having been raised to shun magic in every way b...more

Picking up right where Lord of the Fading Lands left off, Lady of Light and Shadows begins the morning after the Queen of the Fey is hunted in her dreams by the dark being she calls the Shadow Man. Ellysetta knows that it's only a matter of time before she has to face her darkest enemy. Ellysetta's fiance and truemate, Rain Tairen Soul, has vowed to protect her, but even he doesn't know the depth of the evil that stalks his mate. Rain also has the added pressure of trying to protect his people, ...more

This book is, in my opinion, even better than the first in the series Lord of the Fading Lands. Rain and Ellie's relationship is put to the test, as Ellie learns the truth about her own powers and her mysterious past. Both protagonists have grown since the first book in the series; readers who found Rain almost excessively brooding in the first book will be relieved to find him (for the most part) much less so here. The greatest transformation, however, is in Ellysetta, whose shyness...more

Always, she had feared the magic.

I loved this book. Guess it spoke to me about coming out and being who you are!
As a novel it has a wonderful cast of characters. One can get lost at times but it is not so complex that you loose sight of the main plot and characters. There are aspects of the plot that are predictable yet one keeps reading. Ellysetta and Rain work their way toward the "true bond" they are seeking as Ellysetta comes into her own power.

The setting has the framework of an Epic Fantasy, but leaves most detail out. The story develops faster than the first one, and reads a bit better. Unfortunately the Romance part surges to the forefront more frequently in this sequel. Any more increased "sex" page count in future sequels may just force me to give up the world altogether.

Fantastic in every way. Sequal to Lord of the Fading Lands and a well done second book. If you liked the first one this one is even better. My mouth is watering waiting on the third. In this one we see the Mages making their move on the city. Elystta is put to the final test between her and her mate. This is a book I couldn't put down.

This series is easy to get lost in; I have already put the next book on my "To Own" list.
The Tairen Soul Series most remind me of The World of Hetar series by Betrice Small (best series I read last year) and the Sherrilyn Kenyon Dark Hunter Novels.
So if you like either of those, you'll love these.

I must admit that I liked the first book a bit more than the second, but I did feel that C.L. Wilson remained true to the needs of the characters. I liked the new characters that were introduced and felt they helped move the story along. Excited to read book 3.

Loved this one - much stronger plotting than the first book in the series, which plodded a bit towards the end. Very strong finish and good introduction of characters. I'm looking forward to the last two books in the series, which are coming out in late 2008.

I don't click the sell/swap option for this series, because I reread them whenever I get the chance. It makes you want to be the main character more than anything. To see the things she sees, be the person she becomes.

I'm looking forward to reading the next books in the series, but I have a minor complaint--the type of this book was smaller than the type in Lord of the Fading Lands so it was harder to read!

Read the first one of this series and then you will understand that this one is equally good. More books in this series to come in November.
