This reminded me of a very stripped down version of Robbe-Grillet's work--of course, this could also just mean I'm getting better at finding the narrative in Royet-Journoud's work, since he has said in interviews that they are all basically detective stories. But the geometry, the bodies, the page turns, they're all fantastic, and within the more compressed (i.e. shorter) text, it's maybe easier to focus.
