Recommends it for: everyone
Love this book, mainly because Evelyn Cisneros is co-author. It has some different things for aspiring dancers than your usual balletophile book: Stage Directions, mime, transitions, control, leg lifts, music and the "ten bests"; most common steps, best-loved ballets, contemporary ballets, ballet terms for cocktail parties, and fascinating facts. My daughter read this book, age 12-so you can read it, too. Keep it on the shelf and go back to it occasionally.

Recommends it for: Ballet Lovers / Dancers / Instructors
If I could get my beginning ballet students to read anything in the entire world, it would be this book. It gives a great overview and thoroughly explains the ballet basics.
Alicia
Made a great supplement to my ballet class. I was able to read more in depth about positions after I learned them in class, and could practice at home.

Somehow I missed this book. Could THIS be why I didn't get into Juilliard???
