Charles Franklin
This was a great reference book on marketing. The book breaks down marketing into concise and easy to understand that walks you through step-by-step. I, especially liked the first half of the book which focused on principles. Most of us what I read in this chapter was already familiar to me, but the information was presented in such a way that I gained "beginner's insight".

My only problem was that the book didn't show a fully integrated and comprehensive marketing plan. The book showed the diff...more
I read the 2012 3rd edition. I just can't find that one here on Gr. I really enjoyed this book. I'll still have to get a more thorough online marketing book though. I'd love to grab a social marketing textbook from either 2013 or the first edition is from 2012. building good social stats and studies on top of an existing book is where I think this one fell short. it didn't have any, really. just general 'you should do this' kind of suggestions. not much hard data...

Very basic info. Maybe good if you're just starting out.
It gives you all the basics and then some just like all the other "Dummies" books. They are great for building a base of knowledge for something you know nothing about or to expand on the very little knowledge you may know.
Lots of good info on starting a business and running one successfully.
