The Island Of The Minotaur
This book weaves together the famous and forgotten myths of the mysterious Minoans of Crete. Their island empire was obliterated by earthquakes and volcanic eruptions but their clever puzzles and riddling tales were rescued by the Greeks and became an essential part of Greek mythology.

I really love this book. I am reading it to my five year old son. There are a few sentences I have to edit out, and some things we have to talk about (such as Chronos swallowing his children) but for the most part he is really intrigued by the stories, as am I. The author tells them in a very accessible way. All the stories focus on the island of Crete, a civilization near and dear to me as the general subject of my master's thesis, and the illustrations are modern and engaging.
