I really really really enjoyed this book! The book was kind of a romance book, but it also had a bit of mystery to it. I loved how the author made up the story of how they met, and that they both were artists of some kind. It was really cool that Bram and Kaitlin connected in that way. I think others would enjoy the book "Scribbler of Dreams" because it is a story about two lovers who in the end try to bring their two different families together.

Scibbler of Dreams by Mary E. Pearson is a book about a girl named Kaitlin whose family dislikes another family. Kaitlin's family are the Malones and the other family are the Crutchfields. The two families dislike each other because Kaitlin's dad killed the father of the Crutchfields. Kaitlin's dad goes to jail and the Malone family is having trouble getting by and paying bills. Kaitlin and her sister go to a community high school owned by the Crutchfields. Kaitlin and her sister had...more

Hate for the Crutchfields runs in Kaitlin's blood. She can feel it in her heart, her mind, and her soul. But when the crops don't do well and her dad goes to prison for killing a Crutchfield, Kaitlin and her sister Abby have to turn their backs on their school and on what they believe in by going to a school on Crutchfield land. Abby makes friends easily, but Kaitlin hates every aspect of the new place at once. That is, until she meets Bram, a popular boy who chooses to spend his free time a...more

I absolutely loved this book. It is about a boy and a girl from 2 feuding families who fall in love. Sound familiar? Though there are many similarities between this book and Romeo and Juliet, Scribbler of Dreams is still distinctively unique. For one, it takes place in the modern day in California between two feuding farm-owning families: the Crutchfields and the Monroes. Kaitlin Monroes's Mom sent her to public school for the first time since money was getting tight, but told her to use a fake ...more

recommends it for: Girls might like this more than most boys, but it's not really a chick book.
She writes her feelings in a journal. He draws his in a sketch pad. They both are fiercely loyal to their families who detest each other over a tragedy and misunderstanding a couple of generations back. They should hate each other, but they fall in love before they know each other's true identity. Once she learns who he is, she's determined to discover the whole story before she stops her lies to him, her family and her friends. It's reminiscent of Romeo and Juliet with more emphasis on the...more

I didn't really like this book, but oh well.
It's literally another Romeo and Juliet book.. again. If you enjoy a good surprise, I would not recommend this book to you. It was really predictable, and not that knee-jerking.
It's about this girl, who falls in love with this boy, but what do you know? Both of their families hate each other (and i mean hate). So when the boy finds out that she belongs to this family of hers, he gets mad (her dad killed his dad... blah blah blah). She gets hurt, sh...more

I really enjoyed reading scribbler of dreams. it was an entertaining book. i did however think that the story was quite p[redictable because it was based on a love story that is so well known. all the same, it was a wounderfull love story between two teenagers who wanted to be with eachother, no matter what family the other one had come from...well at least they did once they found out what family that they belonged to. but overall it wasnt my personal favorite, but it was still a pretty good bo...more

Scribler of Dreams is like a way newer version of Romeo and Juliet. Kaitlyn Malone is your average teenage girl. Except that her father was recently arrested for the murder of a Crutchfeild.
The Malones and the Crutchfeils have been at each others throats for so long. So Kaitlyn has grown up to hate the Crutchfeilds.
Kaitlyn is in high school, and to make things easier on her, her mother is lettin Kaitlyn use her old last name, Hampton.

A different version of the ever popular story of Romeo and Juliet except with a modern twist. This is a romantic read describing how two people who grow to like one another. However one of the two "star crossed lovers" don't know that the other is from a family he has been taught to hate for years. What happens when he finally finds out? Will a version of Romeo and Juliet finally find an unhappy ending where family is indeed more important than love?

I am usually a huge fan of young adult fiction. This one, though, just did NOT do it for me. I felt like Pearson was trying SO HARD to teach me that "hate is bad, forgiving is good." For some reason, the love story was TOO Romeo and Juliet and the ending was lame for me. Maybe if I'd read it and loved it as a teenager, I would have a sentimental feeling for it, but I didn't. Good thing I only paid a dollar for it.

I loved this book, enough to read it more than once. It's like a modern-day Romeo and Juliet.

This was one of the best love stories I have ever read. I will reread this book again. Its about two families that absolutely hate each other for as long as they can remember following generation after generation. Two teens have fallen in love and have the challenge of bringing their families together, but it comes with some hardships.
