Independent read for 2nd grade
Nash illustrated with black and white pictures that are placed randomly throughout the story. This a great way to transition to chapter books without pictures. Brown tapped into the young reader’s imagination with the character Flat Stanley. He is an average boy who travels to fun places and acts as a hero because he is flat. This is something that will appeal to students. The chapters are an average of ten pages long, but with the illustrations and the medium sized...more

This was my first time reading a Flat Stanley book. I thought this was a cute story. My daughter was given this book by her teacher and they did a "Flat Stanley" project. It was a fun activity for her and her family who live in another location. I also saw parts in the story that I kept thinking there is no way any parent would allow their child to do … no matter how flat. But I kept in mind that the story is for kids to read and having a child hero is important to the series. It also teaches ki...more

We own this as part of an omnibus: Flat Stanley: Three Books in One - Flat Stanley; Stanley in Space; Stanley, Flat Again
Ugh. I don't really care if Bea liked this book, I didn't and I over rule her rating! This book was lame - she just loves getting read to and doesn't know better. HA!
What I am most disturbed to find out about these Flat Stanley books is that Stanley doesn't like being flat and is tortured by it (and that he goes flat and not by weird methods.) It would be more enjoyable to read about the adventures of a flat kid that was just flat with no explanation and no angst. Well, in my opinion anyway.

A funny story of when Stanley thinks that he is a perfect round boy, when one morning he wakes up and he is flat again. One of Stanley's classmates is stuck and he has to help him, and being flat helps him out in the situation. So Stanley saves the day! The students love Flat Stanley book because they are easy chapter books to read and they love reading about Stanley's adventures. You never know where he might end up!
Stanley, Flat Again is in the Flat Stanley series. It is a story about a boy named Stanley who goes flat (once again) from pressure at two places at once (The OBP, Osteal Balance Point.) He is able to do good deeds and realizes his flatness always happens for a reason. This book has a theme, "Everything happens for a reason." It is an easy chapter book for elementary students, that many of my ESL students could easily read.
Stanly, Flat Again! Is really funny. Stanly is flat again. Now this book is good but better then the first book. This book is he turns flat again... he's uses stanly has a kite and stanley's brother is so jeolus because his brothers flat and he's not. This is an excellent book to teach character motivation and character change. Kids love Flat Stanley - and what's not to love! In this book, Stanley (flat, once again) must rescue his mean classmate Emma from the wreckage of an old, decrepit building. Stanley is very relatable, and kids love his sense of humor and the predicaments he gets into!

Great book for kids to follow Stanley around during his crazy travels! Fun book for kids to use imagination as they follow along the travels this character endures. Fun read aloud for any part of the day!

Meh. I did finish reading this, though my 7yo wanted to quit. I read, he built legos and "listened".

Jeff Brown had worked in Hollywood and as an editor and writer in New York before creating Flat Stanley, a hero for the youngest readers whose adventures, with illustrations by Tomi Ungerer, were first published in 1964. Flat Stanley became the star of a series of perpetually popular books. The last, "Stanley, Flat Again!," was published the year he died. All together, Stanley's tales have sold ne...more
