I love Neal Shusterman.

Especially after reading Bruiser, Unwind and UnWholly (i really need to find time to read his other books-especially skinjacker :D). I love that his works are always deep and quite psychological. Full Tilt didn't disappoint.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

This is a story about trauma, despair, guilt and much more. It's a ride through the fears of all people who get stuck in that carnival.

Like i said, it is quite psychological, be...more

Unwind was supposed to be the book I’m reading first from Neal Shusterman, but when I saw this in our bookstore here in my place, I immediately grabbed this undoubtedly since I was told before by a reader that Shusterman is such an amazing author. So who do you think can resist of searching for his books after hearing such a word?

Blake fears something and he fears to admit that it’s the rides he fears to get in. Some are meant to be survivors, some are not. And some are meant to be a single surv...more

Full Tilt is about a boy named Blake who is headed in the right direction. Seems like everyone in his life is off-track including his 'living-for-the-thrill' brother and his boyfriend hopping mother. But not him, Blake's going to college, has his life mapped out and is basically someone you can depend on. He seems perfect really. The only problem is he's hiding a dark secret...nothing evil or haunting, but its a secret he keeps from everyone. He holds the guilt of being the lone survivor of a ho...more

Full tilt, an adventure filled, rollercoaster ride of a book. Packed with twist turns ups and down loops and thrills, kept me reading the book. I rarely read books but from the title catching my eye and its extreme back ground of colors, it’s really an awesome book. The book had me on the edge every time I picked it up, not wanting to put it down. It’s filled with the excitement and themes to keep me wanting to know what’s going to happen next. I happen to like the book so much that I had put my...more

WOW! This was my first time reading Neal Shusterman, and I was not disappointed!

The main plot revolves around a kid named Blake, who is going off to college at an Ivy League school. When he goes out with his friends, he meets an irresistable girl named Cassandra, who promises great thrills at her theme park. Strangely enough, one of Blake's friends says that the park appears to never be in the same location twice. He finds when he enters the park that he must ride seven rides that represent his...more

My book Full Tilt by Neal Shusterman, it mostly talked about two brothers that are way different from each other. Ones good(Blake) and ones bad(Quinn). In one occasion Derek gets into trouble and his brother Blake, has to face his worst fears in order to save his brother from dying. through a series of events they both make it out alive.

I really liked this book because it had so much adventure in it. It was very exciting for me. The fact that Blake had to die, but actually survived was amazing....more

Blake is a quiet teenager that lives with a hectic family, his mom is all over the place with new boyfriends, and his younger brother- Quinn- who is a dare-devil, thrill seeker. After going out with his friends Blake gets into a car crash and discovers that he, his friends and his younger brother are now in a parallel universe where they must go through a phantom carnival before dawn or else they will forever be stuck as one of the games in which they die. Blake realizes that he must ride all 7...more

Full Tilt was a great book. It had a story that you wouldn't normally hear of.This book was honestly one of the most interesting books that I have ever read. A reason why I felt this way about the book is that the book is about a teenage boy who has to ride seven insanely dangerous and chaotic rides in a theme park that seems to be alive in order to save his brother. This becomes a problem for Blake because he is afraid of heights due to a troubling event from his past. Another reason why I find...more

Blake goes on a paranormal roller coaster theme park to save his brother. Each ride reveals something hidden inside the rider's heart and mind. But he has to survive seven rides before dawn arrives.... can he do it?

Ridiculous question, because of course he will since it's a YA book.

I was interested in the premise and what each ride would reveal, but all of them were fairly straightforward without that many quirks or twists. It was a decent read and fairly quick, but it didn't really push the bo...more

Full Tilt is probably one of the most intense books I've ever read. It's extremely intriguing and captivating. It's the story of a boy, Blake, who, in order to save his brother, Quinn, traps himself in an evil carnival where the only way out is to get through all of the rides. The only problem is Cassandra, the personification of the carnival who doesn't want him to get out. I couldn't relate to Quinn, but I could most definitely relate to Blake- a boy obsessed with doing the right thing and doi...more

Blake, Quinn, and two friends are at a carnival when Quinn decides to scale the roller coaster scaffolding to get his hat. He puts himself right in the path of a roller coaster. Blake climbs after him and saves his life.

Blake is always saving his reckless brother, Quinn. Blake is cautious while Quinn is out-of-control. When Blake gets an invitation to a midnight carnival from the mysterious Cassandra, it is Quinn who steals the invite and enters the carnival on his own. Anyone who enters this am...more

This is one of several books I started to read within the last month and did not finish, for one reason or another. In this case, it was because I felt that the book seemed like random dreams that sounded interesting to the author, so he strung them together to make into a book. They kind of abruptly went one into the other with no real flow and I was not interested enough to finish the book.

Book Review

The book I am reading is called “Full Tilt” by Neal Shusterman. It’s about a boy names Blake. He is 16, and is pretty much the man of the house, since his father left him when he was little. He tends to get good grades, be in at curfew, and looks after his younger brother, Quinn. Who is pretty much crazy. But then one day, Blake finds out, Quinn is gone. Blake is now in for a major surprise. He has to ride 7 rides at a mystical theme park, to be able to save his b...more

The author's purpose of writing Full Tilt was to give people an idea of how a sixteen year old can get over his fear and accomplish greater things in life. The author shows how a sixteen year old would react to family being split up or having an austic brother in the family. The style of this book is using descriptive sentences and okay dialogue that expressed the plot of the book. The audience does feel how Blake feels if the audience is in his situation and its pretty common in some families i...more

"They say you never know who's the real hero and who's the real coward until you're looking death in the face. I've always been afraid of plenty of things, but fear isn't what makes you a coward. It's how depraved your heart becomes when fear gets pumped through it. I would never climb over the backs of my friends to save myself."

"Full Tilt" by Neal Shusterman was one of the better books i have ever read. Blake, the main character and his brother Quinn go to an amusement park with some of their friends. While at the amusement park Blake talks to a girl named Cassandra who gives him a ticket to another amusement park later that night. When Blake and Quinn return home from the park they receive the news that their mom is engaged. Blake accepts this but Quinn does not and storms off; later to be found in a mysterious coma....more

Full Tilt is not the average book you would expect. Sixteen year old Blake is the man of the house. He acts like a father to his brother Quinn. Quinn is a daredevil who will do anything you want him to. Pretty much the opposie of Blake. Not only will Quinn go on a scary rollercoaster, but he will climb on top of a rollercoaster to grab his hat. Even when the rollercoaster is coming his way. But as Blake, Quinn and their friends Maggie and Russ are at an amusment park they get a misterious invit...more

Full Tilt is about a boy that has lived his life really well and doesn't seem to ever do anything wrong and always live by the rules. It is interesting that he still acts this way even though his little brother and two best friends are the total opposite. But the only thing is that he has a secret that no one else knows. It is that he was in a very fatal bus accident where he was the only survivor on that bus. He also holds the guilt that he probably could have been able to save others on the bu...more

The novel Full Tilt, by Neal Shusterman, is a fiction story full of mystery, action, and adventure. I chose to read this book because I was recommended it from two of my friends. They both enjoyed the book. They told me I would like it because of my love for scary movies and that this book was creepy. The story is about a sixteen year old boy named Blake. Him, his brother, Quinn, and his two friends Maggie and Russ decided to go to an amusement park one day. Blake plays a few games and ends up...more

Full Tilt is about a college-bound boy named Blake. He, his brother Quinn, and a couple of their friends go to an amusement park one day and things start going downhill from there. He starts talking to a girl named Cassandra and she gives him a invitation. An invitation to a "unknown amusement park". I think a legitimate argument can be made that Full Tilt is the point where Neal Shusterman really began "putting it all together" as an author, melding the fascinating metaphysical nature of some of his earlier material (The Eyes of Kid Midas, for example) with the powerful emotional impact of his first novel, The Shadow Club, to create a ride like nothing else before in the history of young-adult literature. Once Neal Shusterman really found his groove, he became awesome on a whole new level,...more
