Full Tilt is about a boy named Blake who is headed in the right direction. Seems like everyone in his life is off-track including his 'living-for-the-thrill' brother and his boyfriend hopping mother. But not him, Blake's going to college, has his life mapped out and is basically someone you can depend on. He seems perfect really. The only problem is he's hiding a dark secret...nothing evil or haunting, but its a secret he keeps from everyone. He holds the guilt of being the lone survivor of a More...

Full tilt, an adventure filled, rollercoaster ride of a book. Packed with twist turns ups and down loops and thrills, kept me reading the book. I rarely read books but from the title catching my eye and its extreme back ground of colors, it’s really an awesome book. The book had me on the edge every time I picked it up, not wanting to put it down. It’s filled with the excitement and themes to keep me wanting to know what’s going to happen next. I happen to like the book so much that I had put my More...

WOW! This was my first time reading Neal Shusterman, and I was not disappointed!

The main plot revolves around a kid named Blake, who is going off to college at an Ivy League school. When he goes out with his friends, he meets an irresistable girl named Cassandra, who promises great thrills at her theme park. Strangely enough, one of Blake's friends says that the park appears to never be in the same location twice. He finds when he enters the park that he must ride seven rides that re More...

This is one of several books I started to read within the last month and did not finish, for one reason or another. In this case, it was because I felt that the book seemed like random dreams that sounded interesting to the author, so he strung them together to make into a book. They kind of abruptly went one into the other with no real flow and I was not interested enough to finish the book.

Book Review

The book I am reading is called “Full Tilt” by Neal Shusterman. It’s about a boy names Blake. He is 16, and is pretty much the man of the house, since his father left him when he was little. He tends to get good grades, be in at curfew, and looks after his younger brother, Quinn. Who is pretty much crazy. But then one day, Blake finds out, Quinn is gone. Blake is now in for a major surprise. He has to ride 7 rides at a mystical theme park, to b More...

The author's purpose of writing Full Tilt was to give people an idea of how a sixteen year old can get over his fear and accomplish greater things in life. The author shows how a sixteen year old would react to family being split up or having an austic brother in the family. The style of this book is using descriptive sentences and okay dialogue that expressed the plot of the book. The audience does feel how Blake feels if the audience is in his situation and its pretty common in some familie More...

"They say you never know who's the real hero and who's the real coward until you're looking death in the face. I've always been afraid of plenty of things, but fear isn't what makes you a coward. It's how depraved your heart becomes when fear gets pumped through it. I would never climb over the backs of my friends to save myself."

"Full Tilt" by Neal Shusterman was one of the better books i have ever read. Blake, the main character and his brother Quinn go to an amusement park with some of their friends. While at the amusement park Blake talks to a girl named Cassandra who gives him a ticket to another amusement park later that night. When Blake and Quinn return home from the park they receive the news that their mom is engaged. Blake accepts this but Quinn does not and storms off; later to be found in a myst More...

Full Tilt is not the average book you would expect. Sixteen year old Blake is the man of the house. He acts like a father to his brother Quinn. Quinn is a daredevil who will do anything you want him to. Pretty much the opposie of Blake. Not only will Quinn go on a scary rollercoaster, but he will climb on top of a rollercoaster to grab his hat. Even when the rollercoaster is coming his way. But as Blake, Quinn and their friends Maggie and Russ are at an amusment park they get a misterious invit More...

Full Tilt is about a boy that has lived his life really well and doesn't seem to ever do anything wrong and always live by the rules. It is interesting that he still acts this way even though his little brother and two best friends are the total opposite. But the only thing is that he has a secret that no one else knows. It is that he was in a very fatal bus accident where he was the only survivor on that bus. He also holds the guilt that he probably could have been able to save others on the More...

Sixteen-year-old Blake has always been the responsible one in his dysfunctional family -- the one who drives safely, gets good grades, and looks after his wild younger brother, Quinn. Quinn is his brother's opposite -- a thrill-seeker who's always chasing the next scary rush, no matter what the cost. But Quinn and Blake are in for the surprise of their lives when they're thrust into the world of a bizarre phantom carnival -- and their souls are the price of admission.

The novel Full Tilt, by Neal Shusterman, is a fiction story full of mystery, action, and adventure. I chose to read this book because I was recommended it from two of my friends. They both enjoyed the book. They told me I would like it because of my love for scary movies and that this book was creepy. The story is about a sixteen year old boy named Blake. Him, his brother, Quinn, and his two friends Maggie and Russ decided to go to an amusement park one day. Blake plays a few games and en More...

Full Tilt is about a college-bound boy named Blake. He, his brother Quinn, and a couple of their friends go to an amusement park one day and things start going downhill from there. He starts talking to a girl named Cassandra and she gives him a invitation. An invitation to a "unknown amusement park". When they leave, they decide not to go the park and Blake drops off everyone and goes home wit his brother. They both find out that his mom is getting remarried and Quinn doesn't like it. More...

Full Tilt is an interesting book. At first glance it looks like a typical Goosebumps-style young adult novel about teenagers being sucked into a paranormal amusement park. Fortunately (although that could be cool), this book goes beyond that to explore its characters, or at least its protagonist, in more depth.

Blake is a sort of bland, generic overachiever with some secrets in his past when the book opens. Using the plotline of an amusement park run by a mysterious, otherworldly figu More...

Neal Shusterman has done it again!! He has created another world, or a kind of dream-like world that is just as awesome as all his others.

And, as always, his characters are amazingly well done. The main character, Blake, is easy to relate to, I think. He has his fears, one especially, that limits what he allows himself to do. However, in this story, Cassandra, the villain, helps him face his fears and doubts. In his dream-like adventure, he grows up and becomes an young adult who i More...

This was one of the best books I have LEGIT ever read. I loved it so much I thought it went a little fast. Anyways, the details and the character development were amazing you can totally see how they chance and grow in the book and the amazing details kept me on the edge of my seat. I COULD NOT put this book down if it depended on my life. I loved every waking moment of it from the beginning until the end. The way Shusterman described every moment and every scene was amazing and the chapter titl More...

This book starts off fast, wasting no time with detailed introductions. This does result in a bit of confusion at the beginning, but not to worry, it's all cleared up through the rest of the book. It's a real roller coaster ride (pun not really intended ;P) of a book, suspenseful and thrillingly spooky in all the right places. In terms of characters, some of them are really compelling, while others are left slightly flat. Unfortunately, one of those flat ones, in my opinion, was the main charact More...

Full Tilt is extremely captivating so far. I can relate to all the characters, expecially Quinn. Sometimes, he needs to leave reality to enter his own little world just like i do. I think it's very touching that his brother is going through the ordeal of the terrifying rides just to reach him and save him from the inevitable doom.

Unwind was supposed to be the book I’m reading first from Neal Shusterman, but when I saw this in our bookstore here in my place, I immediately grabbed this undoubtedly since I was told before by a reader that Shusterman is such an amazing author. So who do you think can resist of searching for his books after hearing such a word?

Blake fears something and he fears to admit that it’s the rides he fears to get in. Some are meant to be survivors, some are not. And some are meant to be a s More...

Blake is the uber-responsible older brother. One night he ticks off Quinn, his 13 year old brother. In the middle of the night, Blake wakes up to the flashing lights of an ambulance, set to take the comatose Quinn off to the hospital. Blake suspects that Quinn has gone "somewhere else" in his mind: the surreal carnival that they were invited to earlier that day. Blake and his two best friends set off to rescue Quinn. At the carnival they must ride 7 rides before dawn or none of t More...

Though he experienced a horrible trauma in his past, 16 year old Blake is responsible, a good student, a good friend. His younger brother, Quinn, isn’t. So Blake feels special responsibility for Quinn, especially when Blake is given a special ticket to a mysterious carnival in an isolated, abandoned, rock quarry. When Quinn uses the ticket, Black and his two friends chase him. The chase ends at the bizarre, supernatural carnival. They learn that in able to escape the carnival, they must eac More...

This book was very interesting, but not what i expected it to be. I have wanted to read this book since like 7th grade and now that i have read it, i can't say that it was worth the wait. The way that Shusterman writes this book does captivate the readers attention, as they can imagine what is written, but at some moments i found the story too predictable and not exciting. There were moments when i was totally shocked however. I cannot categorize this book as one that i would read again if i had More...

The book Full Tilt, by Neal Shusterman, is an adventurous teen fiction. This book was recommended to me by my brother, who told me it was very exciting. He knows my preferences and me quite well, so he knew that the book and I were a good match. I also read the back of the book, which assured me that this book would be worth reading. This book is about brothers who are completely different. The older brother, Blake, is always getting his younger brother, Quinn, out of trouble. Quinn gets himself More...

Full Tilt is a story that once you start reading it, you can't put it down. I think Neal Shusterman did a great job of grabbing the readers attention and holding it throughout the entire book. The way the story is told makes you question what's real and what's not.

The setting is an amusement park down an old dirt road. The main character Blake ends up there while looking for his brother Quinn. Once they enter the park they must survive threw 7 rides before dawn or they will be l More...

Mind = blown.

Okay, so maybe I'm a little biased because of my obsession with Neal Shusterman, but this book is amazing! I read this book during a reading slump ... in one sitting. So you know it had to have been good. The one thing that I kept thinking about during the whole book was "This book would make a great video game!" And it would. It could be almost like Dante's Inferno, only not with the whole Deadly Sins thing, but with the seven rides.

Full Tilt is basically about a sixteen year old boy named Blake that gets an invitation to a late night theme park. You are only able to get in the park by invitation. When Blake wakes up to ambulence sirens and his comatose brother Quinn he knows it has something to do with the carnival when he sees lights in his brothers' eyes and the invitation is missing. Venturing to the park with Blake is his two friends Russ and Maggie. Once in the park you must survive seven life threatening rides, each More...

Neal Shusterman sure has a creative mind. I mean, books about a semi-invisible boy, a world where teenagers are aborted, or "unwound", a place where children who get lost on the way through the tunnel of light, and now an amusement park with an evil creator where the rides are your worst fears and nightmares?
One thing I wished had been explained more was how Quinn said he "goes places". Maybe I just missed it, or it had something to do with his childhood autism, but i More...

If I was being entirely honest, I'd only award the book two stars. It didn't do it for me. But I admit to picking up this book after finishing Shusterman's Unwind (which I liked quite a bit)--and I think it suffered for having to follow in Unwind's hard-to-fill footsteps. Had I read it first, I might have been more forgiving.

Also, the librarian in me can't help but acknowledge that I can see this as being a great recommendation for many different teens, including the elusive " More...
