Didn't like this as much as I liked the first one. I expect more from second books though, since the groundwork has already been laid in the first. I expected more from Tilla, but now I kind of dislike her. Her capriceness now seems more like selfishness and total disregard. Not quite as charming as the Medicus. Still like the doctor character--who luckily is the main one.

The mystery of the second book didn't seem as engaging as the first, but it was tied up with political strife that picked up the slack. Ruso and Tilla are both great characters, I just wish they got more screen time together.

The second book in Downie's series of mysteries, set at the far reaches of the Roman empire in Britain, is as entertaining and well-written as the first, Medicus.

The characters are three-dimensional and the story intriguing. This text is delightful within its genre of historical mysteries.

As enjoyable as the first, except a little slow in the beginning. This is an easy, light, good summer read series.

This series is pretty good but it Does Not Compare to the Lindsey Davis - Falco novels.
