I read the Kindle edition in a couple of days. Kylene is being held captive in an apparent case of mistaken identity when the shade of Hardane, heir to the throne of Argone, appears to her. She is later rescued and the adventure begins.

Typically I find Amanda Ashley's books a little heavy handed when it comes to the whole soulmates and HEA endings, but in this case it really works. Kylene is not your typical tough as nails heroine, as she admits to being afraid and sometimes ...gasps... actually

Just finished this one, and have to say, I am constantly amazed at the critisisms launched by book reviewers....such as, it didn't bring anything new to the field. Ummmm, books have been written for thousands of years, there are no NEW stories, only variations on a theme...look closer, no matter what the story, it's all been told before. When I read a book, I want to be entertained, taken somewhere other than MY reality, and in this book, Amanda/Madeline succeeded admirably! I loved this story, ...more

It was fantasy/paranormal with a medieval feel to the alternate universe.

I probably should have given it 1 star because I had to make myself finish it, but I always feel too guilty giving out 1 star.

The first half of the book was all about: Is Kylene the destined mate of Hardane? Well, obviously, since they are the hero and heroine, so it didn't need to drag out for half the book. It was boring! And when the question was finally answered, it was anti-climatic. I expected way more drama and suspe
I picked this up from the library on a whim, and that's about as much investment as this book merits. The perspective constantly changes from one character to another in a confusing jumble, new plot elements are introduced suddenly and without motivation or foreshadowing, the protagonist is passive and uninspiring and the plot twists are predictable cliches. That said, it's fine for a casual read in the fantasy-romance genre. It just doesn't bring anything new to the field.

Very first book I ever read by Amanda Ashley 10 years ago, and haven't stopped reading her books yet, and don't see myself stopping anytime soon.
A nice love story with a paranormal bent. Not up to the normal standard of this author I think.
It's a fun typical romance book
