I have to start this by saying I really wanted to like this but...

Callie our heroine is pregnant with her sister's child. Her sister was married to a US Senator and worked with an aid agency when she was killed in what appeared to be an accident. She decides to do her own investigation and while at the US Embassy in Angola ends up being held hostage by rebels. She doesn't know they are out to kill her under orders from an unknown individual. She is rescued and helped by our hero.

Cole is Special

My rating: 2.5 out of 5 stars.

The concept of the story was what caught my attention and so I was very happy when I got approve for this title. I love stories that deal with the military, a little bit of action and if you add a hot soldier into the mix, you have my attention. I found the story enjoyable but to quite honest
The blurb for In His Sights caught my attention and made me want to read it. I really wanted to love it, but I didn't. Don’t get me wrong. I like the book. It just wasn't a page turner for me until it got closer to the end. The last quarter grabbed my attention.

Callie and Cole are thrown together and stuck in a foreign country going through the wilderness to get to safety. As they depend on each other, their relationship evolves.

I enjoyed how Callie and Cole overcome their childhood issues to
Scooper Speaks
Favorite Lines: “This couldn’t be happening. Cole couldn’t be standing in her living room, asking to lay his hands on her stomach. When he touched her, it was almost a religious experience. His fingers explored inch by inch, and before long, their mouths followed suit. When she pulled him toward the bedroom, there were no more words at all for a long time.” (p. 216, e-galley)

In His Sights is Tina Beckett’s action packed romantic suspense which follows a woman’s struggle for survival in Angola

Don't look down, don't look down …

Her breath began rattling in her chest as she tried to obey her edict. Before she could stop herself, her glance plummeted sixteen floors and smacked the concrete below. A low moan escaped as the distant vision seemed to reach up and grab at her, trying to pull her over the side.

The soldier drew her closer and his black eyes bored into hers. "I want you to get behind me and put your arms around my neck as tightly as you can without choking me. And wrap your leg

MinnChica: I am a huge sucker for romantic suspense, especially ones done with sexy military heroes. Unfortunately, while I liked the overall premise of the book and thought that Beckett had a very strong plot, Callie drove me nuts. To the point that I couldn’t enjoy the story. Add in the few pregnancy issues that had me rolling my eyes every few pages, and I had a really hard time enjoying what could have been a

ugh.. Where to start. dialog. I don't know, I could not finish this book. Also the narrator's ( Gayle Hendrix ) male voice was " golly gee, I can't speak around this woman, stupid voice " through the whole book. If you can't read a mans part like a man would say it, don't read men parts. I skipped to the very end. Already guessed who the bad guy was from the very beginning. The very very end of the book has them about to have their second baby. Not giving away anything in this book. The very las ...more

As my first real romance novel, I enjoyed it. It had just enough action and just enough romance to keep a guy like me interested. Gripping story too.

This was my first Tina Beckett book and I can say, it won't be my last. I really enjoyed the story. I admit, especially in the beginning, the story was a bit wordy and a little over descriptive, but I don't feel that took away from the story. There was action, and intrigue and an amazing love story. I loved Cole, I felt for him when hearing his story. To me, that is the definition of a good book, when the author can make you "feel" with just words. I hope Moss gets his own story, there seemed to ...more

With romantic suspense, fantastic settings and plenty of intrigue go a long way, but a truly good read needs more than that. If the main characters don't come alive on the page and the reader has trouble connecting to them, a promising read can turn lackluster. In His Sights suffers from this issue and, as a result, a book that starts as a heartstopping thriller turns ordinary far too soon.

Excellent romantic thriller. The unusual setting of Angola is handled with great authenticity and gave it an unusual flavor.
