“What if a person who lived in Hitler’s time was told what would happen and that they could prevent all the atrocities, but the person who had to die to avert the violence was Albert Einstein?”

“The Plateau” è finito nelle mie cose da leggere grazie a Samanta Lien della JKSCommunications - Literary Publicity che mi ha contattato proponendomi questo interessantissimo libro. Non fatevi ingannare dalla copertina, che induce a credere si tratti di un libro per bambini. Questo è tutto tranne che un li

The Plateau ..... Please don't be scared off by the cover, I know it seems like it might be a children's novel but it's not. It's remarkable in so many ways. The story begins with Catherine, an environmental engineer, who feels overwhelmed both by what happens around her and by what happens in her dreams. Henry is the faithful husband who tries to understand the things that he can't see or feel while encouraging her to experience them rather then fear them. And there is Keitha, the archivist ...more

The Plateau: Voices of the Earth by Maureen Dudley
I received this book as part of the Summer Reads Blog Tour, summer reads for the whole family.
Besides highlighting the event I wanted to read all the books in the category so you, the reader would know about them from my view.
This one starts out with Catherine and her father is in the hospital with a heart attack. She travels to be with him and her twin sister, Maria who is there who is dead.
Her husband Henry will meet her there. She endures many

The premise of this book was interesting and the topic was important. I have many of the same interests and concerns as the author and I thought the ideas regarding our impacts on the future were right on. The only problem I had with this book is that I loved the story so much, but I had a hard time reading through the descriptions of history that tended to bog down the story a little. Perhaps this is because I was already familiar with many of the environmental findings, political ...more

This book speaks truly to the heart. Full of facts and information, ye staying true to its fictional setting, Dudley's story is a warning to us all.

I loved the character of Keitha. She was head-strong, vivid and realistic. I could imagine clearly what she would do in different situations. The personalities of the dogs were also captivating, with their unique place within this tale.

Various classic science-fiction and time-traveling notions are woven within this story, and yet Dudley somehow m

I really enjoyed reading this book about people from the future communicating with people in today's time about how their events can impact people for generations. The first few chapters were kind of hard to follow because I felt really confused but once I got past chapter three I was completely involved. Very well written and informative about some environmental things, I think it is a very good book for older children even. I definitely look forward to reading the other two books in this ...more
