Recommends it for: children, teenagers
"Everything would be so much easier, if she could just go back to seeing the world in black and white." (loosely translated line from Pirate Emperor)

These books are really perfect for children and young teenagers. Kai Meyer doesn't talk down to his readers. On the contrary, he challenges them to think for themselves and to question their worldview (and that of the characters).

The question of "what is good? what is evil?" plays a central role in the "Wave Walkers"-series. And the author pays atte

Di

Their world is threatened, and they will have to dive deep into the water to keep an ancient source from opening a gate

Right. So Jolly and Griffin are stranded on a tiny island where a stange guy is building and enormous bridge- but to where? Another world? Before they can find out, the bridge bursts into flames and the kobalins attack. Jolly and Griffin have nowhere to run until the Ghost Trader mysteriously appears and carries them off to the magical coral city of Aelenium. It is from Aelenium, that Jolly and Munk are supposed to descend far, far into the deep to keep out the world-devouring Maelstrom.

As always, Meyer is an incredibly imaginative storyteller, and the way he intricately weaves his plot structure throughout the story keeps the reader constantly guessing what’s going to happen next. Personally, I have been enjoying this trilogy more than the Dark Reflections Trilogy because there are a lot more twists and the characters seem to have a wider arc and a greater range of experiences. Above all, though, what makes this book, and the others so far in the series, so fun is the unique w ...more

It was a good follow up to the first, and really creates tension.

Zu ...more

This is the second book in the series "wave walkers". Meyer has a way of hooking readers into everything he says...its amazing. We follow the stories of Munk, Jolly, and Griffin in seperate chapters toward the end of the book. I can't wait for the next one! This was good, but not as good as "the Pirate Curse", the first installment of the series.

Unfortunately i couldn't finish this book. So i've abandoned it.

There's nothing wrong with it's just not my "type" of thing by any means.
So instead of soldiering on i've decided to leave it at peace and start on something else.

Don't let that stop you reading it though !

Szerencsére magyarra is le lett fordítva, bár egész más címmel. Gyerekkönyvhöz képest elég komoly és izgalmas olvasmány.Habár most divat lett az ilyen típusú könyv, mégis egyedi, érdekes.

Run, Jolly, run. Run away as fast as you can from the nightmare in Aelenium.

But with nightmares, there's a catch: They follow you. Everywhere. No matter above or under the sea...

Continues the story, once more ending in a cliff-hanger. A little more complexity, though I still find the characters a bit simplistic.
Pedro
Great book, i think it may be better than the first one, and i still wonder what will happen inside a whales stomach
Brian
This is a imaginative world and the writing gets better as the story progresses. I am looking forward to the last one.

Just keeps getting better! "The plot thickens!" I wonder how long those dead fish have been dead..

Great second book in the trilogy, in fact better than the first. Time to order the last book.

Jolly is still that strong character that faces her challenges with her friends. a good read!
Bekah
Good sequel and leaves you wanting the 3rd to come out soon (I don't know when it comes though).

I guess this was a flop....I put it sucked, seriously.

ummm i havn't started this one yet so i can't say anything

I guess I just expected more, based on the first book.
Catherine
So, I guess Munk isn't the main character after all.

“The Trader held the ring horizontal and let the fingertips of his right hand circle over it. As he did so, he closed his eyes, murmured something to himself, and was silent again. His eyes remained closed; he did not move.
"What's he doing?" whispered Walker.
Soledad shrugged her shoulders. "Something terribly powerful."
"Wrong." replied the Trader. "I'm concentrating on the mosquito bite on my left heel, so it will stop itching."
"Oh," Walker said seriously.
"Mosquito bite?" Soledad repeated.
"I can't catch ghosts if my foot is itching. I beg you for a little more understanding."
"But of course," Walker said spitefully.”
