This book is riveting throughout the read. I was captivated by the depth and strength of the characters. I could easily love some and hate others. Some chapters were were horrifying and some grabbed your heart and held on. The suspense made it hard to put the book down! It is so well written, you emotionally experience the story along with the characters.

This story is powerful. It immerses you in one of our most tumultuous times in history. It forces you to bear witness and understand.

Powerful, gripping, and heart-pounding. This book delves into the Deep South at a time when the KKK controlled the population with fear, violence, and intimidation. A young girl, suddenly alone in the world, fights for justice, and fights to protect herself from the very people who are supposed to help her. It's hard to put down. You care about these characters and root for them. Highly recommend! An American story that is long overdue.
