Hay una parte que está muy bien y otra que está muy mal:
Desde el punto de vista documental, la obra no tiene pega: describe de manera soberbia el mundo de los narcos y, sobre todo, de las jovencitas que los endiosan. La obra está salpicada de anécdotas de nota roja que mantienen constante elnterés.

This books is also made into a TV series(original tv series and a remake). The book is betther of course. I saw the series a couple of times not all of it, but I really wanted to read the book. I really didn't liked it...
It was like reading a script of a really bad soap opera, the plot though it's crude and refered to delicate subjectes such as drug trafic, prostitution and the violence involved in them, is unrealistic and lacking of support from the characters, which are flat and unidimensional, they speak alike, move alike and have noo elements of personality that characterize them as independent fictional beings.
The whole book its much more like a compilat More...

Narración fluida, no querés parar de leer. Introduce datos e historias paralelas a la novela que le dan más sabor. Pero al final se queda corto, por eso 4 estrellas y no 5.

This is a piece of fiction that weaves together a lot of Colombia's recent history relating to the drug war. The story follows a young girl along her struggle to become physically "beautiful" in order to gain the attention and favor of the local drug lords.

Enjoyed the book very much as it looks at the effects of the drug business from a different angle without having to sugar-coat anything. Cynical and realistic but not depraved- I have no interest in seeing the soap-opera though. Also recommend reading La Virgen de los Sicarios.

Sometimes the plot is a little hard to believe, but for the most part it's an entertaining and at times insightful look into the lives of the narcotraficantes and the girls who aspired to reap the benefits of their riches.
