I don't read much non-fiction books, so when I pick one up, finish it, and recommend it, you know it's good.

Secrets to a Happy Life by Bill Giovannetti illustrates how God is working in your favor, how to move past negative emotions that ensnare your thoughts, and how to choose to be happy. Secrets to a Happy Life uses examples from the life of the OT Joseph, and boy did he have some difficult circumstances to live through.

I found the stories told and lessons explained in this book to be so re

Sometimes I come across a book that speaks to me profoundly. Secrets to a Happy Life did just that. I underlined so many parts and dog-eared so many pages. In an unassuming way full of the unforced rhythms of grace, Bill Giovannetti has penned some real answers to some of life's deepest questions. In this post-modern era that we all find ourselves wading through, it's good to take time for some introspection.
The pages of Secrets to a Happy Life help with that. I was absorbed from beginning to

In Secrets to a Happy Life, Bill Giovannetti explored the deeper meaning behind true happiness and the satisfaction of relying on God’s amazing providence. The book enclosed eleven life changing key principles to finding contentment and happiness no matter what trials in life you may have to go through. The book covered the whole Biblical story of Joseph (Genesis 37 through Genesis 50) in vast details from his dim circumstances to his ultimate triumphs leading to God’s glory. Some of the eleven ...more

Okay I have to make room for another book on my bookshelf! This one is a keeper. It is one I will reread and study many times over. When I first read the title I thought, “Okay another pie in the sky, Pollyanna book about how to be happy.” I was so wrong!
The author does not promise some quick fix ideas to a happy life that everyone would like to find. I liked this as I do not believe there are any. Instead he turns to God’s word and opens the door to what true happiness and how to achieve it rea

I received this book free of charge from the publisher in exchange for my honest review. The following opinions are all my own.

Almost everyone would be willing to admit that they want to live a fulfilling, joyful life. Very few people, if any, would choose to be unhappy if they were given the choice. Despite this, many people are living unhappy, unfulfilled lives and wonder why they can't find enjoyment. That is what this book attempts to deal with. First of all, let me preface this review by s

Bill Giovannetti takes us on a journey to explore the life of Joseph (the guy with the coat) and discover how he managed to keep not only his faith, but his joy.

I love the way Bill writes, he reminds me of Max Lucado with his style. You feel like he is sitting in the room with you sharing a story over a cup of coffee. Not too preachy or rosy, but not so saccharine sweet as to come across as fake.

The book includes 11 "secrets" to a happy life such as letting go, endurance, and wisdom. He discusse

I wasn’t sure what to expect when I picked up this book – a self-help list of ten secrets, twelve guides, four principals? Instead I found an intriguing study on the well-known story of Joseph (of Technicolor dreamcoat fame), and a wealth of naturally told lessons from the characters of the tale, and from present-day neighbors as well. It’s a Christian book, but the lessons are inspiring enough to apply to anyone – just substitute whatever you will for the God-part. Then see a historical youth ...more

Increase Your Happiness Quotient with “Secrets to a Happy Life”
Let’s face it, happiness can be a tough one. Not the fleeting joy of an acquisition or an achievement but that deep, settled contentment that signals true happiness. Bill Giovannetti’s new book “Secrets to a Happy Life” offers a roadmap to deeper happiness using a Biblical story fraught with disappointment…Joseph (the one with the many colored coat.) Giovannetti uses Joseph’s story to help guide us through a study of the things that

Do you long to be happy? Not just a temporary feeling of happiness, but a deep down feeling of joy that never leaves?

In Secrets to a Happy Life, Bill Giovannetti takes us on a journey through the life of Joseph to teach the secrets that made Joseph a happy and resilient person. Mr. Giovannetti is honest in his book about what he believes and about the fact that while he can teach you the secrets to happiness it is up to you to take the journey.
He teaches 11 secrets to happiness and practical w

It was a treat to receive this book as a free read from Goodreads giveaways. As a reader who enjoys self help books for the inspiration they can provide and for the opportunity to look at life from varying points of view, I was eagerly anticipating reading “Secrets of a Happy Life”. Mr. Giovanetti’s five laws of destiny were clearly and nicely explained. The continued references to God made the book difficult for me to finish. Whether the reader believes in God or not, the book felt like a heavy ...more

Even if, in the beginning, is a little tiresome to read at, this book is really whorth reading. Received as a "Giveaway" in this site, there were some months before I start reading it.
Basically, the concept is about how we can extract "secrets to a happy life" (thus the name of the book) from the biblical story of Joseph, the son of Jacob (aka as Israel :) ). The book is based on eleven secrets we can draw from that. It's enjoyable and simple written, and I can say, from my personal point of vie

This is a short, sweet book that uses the story of Joseph to tell the "secrets to happiness". It's a very nice mix of biblical references and good story telling that you can relate to. The chapters are brief and end with questions of more things to think about. The book is quite heavy on theology, naturally, but it doesn't seem forceful or unapproachable. The book does, however, tie any real deep happiness to relating to God in various ways. I think it would be a great book for someone who is ...more

I enjoyed and appreciated Secrets to a Happy Life. The patriarch Joseph is one of our favorites in the Old Testament and Pastor Bill Giovannetti tells his life story within a framework we all can apply to our personal lives.

Using his trademark good humor, with a touch of wry, Giovannetti enables to reader to understand how to take their own personal circumstances, run them through the Bible filter of Joseph's life, and see a more constructive way to live and handle their challenging circumstance

I'm excited to be a Goodreads Giveaway winner, and to read the book. Thank you. I found this book had a lot of bible references, so it was hard for me personally to follow along. The premise of the book about how to live a happy life, was very good though. I think I would have marked it a higher read if I had understood it more. I think it would be a very good book for someone that has a more devout following of God.

What can I say, Bill Giovannetti was my pastor for the past seven years so I'm a tad biased and was familiar with many of the stories/preachings in this book. Nonetheless, his humor never disappoints and the down-to-earth philosophy of the book is wonderful. I really enjoyed this book.

Reminds us to look at the big picture. God has a purpose for all things and our happiness comes from knowing God is with us regardless of our circumstances.
