Hrant Matevosyan was born in Ahnidzor village near Alaverdi, Lori in 1935. He studied at the village school. He received his higher education in Yerevan State Pedagogical Institute after Khachatur Abovyan. Later Matevosyan graduated from Moscow Higher Screenwriting Courses. He began his literal activity in the 1960s.
