I quite liked this one, as it was frothy and fun but still somehow realistic—Crusie is good at setting up relationships between both the main and the secondary romantic couples which don't rely on external forces to create angst and drama, but rather at showing how repeated patterns of behaviour can ruin relationships without any outside help. I also liked the fact that Crusie is always happy to show her female characters taking genuine pleasure in their food, but not in a neurotic way, an...more

Romance. Nell Dysart's still getting over her divorce when she takes a job as Gabe McKenna's secretary. She thinks his detective agency needs a face lift. He thinks she needs to lighten up. They're both right. This was my second time reading this and I'd have to say it's probably my third favorite Crusie book (1st: Faking it, 2nd: Welcome to Temptation). It's got lots of sexual t...more

Fast Women is the first Jennifer Crusie I ever read and as such it retains a very special place in my heart.
It's also a fantastic, fast-paced read with some of my Crusie favourite characters. In fact, I've read this book so many times, I have difficulty remembering that they're not real...

Fast Women started off slow but then picked up the pace, so initially it was a little difficult for me to get into but I did get into it - somewhat - as it progressed. The book was a little different than most chick lit. For one thing, the story was intertwined with a murder mystery but by the time it had unraveled itself I was less than enthused. When the mystery was solved I think my actual reaction was, "Oh. Okay."
Overall, I could have done with or without this book. I'll...more

This is one of my favorite Crusie books (the other being Faking It). Like all of Crusie's books, it has a lot of humor built into the book, especially in her quick dialogue. Her characters are dealing with real life problems and face them with humor. One of the things I really like about this book is the close friendship between the three main female characters. I also like the way a lot of their feelings are expressed in their choices of china--both what they buy and what they do with it.

Jennifer Crusie is one of my favorite author's and I've read all of her novels. Fast Women is one of her best books because the characters are exactly like real people so each reader can see a little piece of themself in the heroine or her friends. The characters are middle-aged, scarred by life battles and truly believable.
Fast Women is a fast paced compelling story about
ex-husbands... retribution...true love...great sex, some good laughs and a touch of mystery.

FAST WOMEN isn't my favorite of the Crusie novels, but it is still fantastic. I love her tone and the characters she introduces you to. Nell is a walking disaster after divorcing and is convinced her calling is to fix the problems with others' lives until she meets Gabe, who is a rockhard resistence to Nell's fix-it abilities. This book is all about finding who you are after 20 years of marriage and finding out who you could be when set free.

I think this was the first of Jennifer Crusie's books that I read. It's probably one of my top three favorite of hers. This is the third or fourth time that I'm reading it, so that says something about it, too. Crusie's books, especially her most recent ones, are so tightly crafted that they stand up to rereading, and they're so fun and funny and satisfying that they're just good stories to read, once or many times.

Not as good as some of her other books like Welcome to Temptation and Faking It but it was still good. It was more a mystery type book than a romance novel. I just got tired of characters fighting and whining. It was just a couple characters. It was all of them. I'm hoping this isn't where Crusie is going with her writing. I would recommend it just because it's better than most books in this genre. Just not what I was expecting from her.

Funny and tragic, two friends meet the end of their marriages and learn to deal with divorce. They go to work for an investigation agency, find new partners in life, and investigate several murders and disappearances, all cleverly tied into their pasts. A third friend deals with the disappearance of her husband and a significant other who is manipulative and controlling. Lots of elements to this story.

I thought the book was fun and engaging. It is a story of a woman who is recently divorced and trying to move on and begins to work at a detective agency. The detective agency's main client is her in-laws legal firm. So quickly past and present become entangled. However, I felt the end was a little to simplified and over the top and the women seemed emotionally immature and didn't show a lot of growth.

I thought this was an ok book. It held a lot of promise and I did really enjoy the style of writing. However, the book description promised more than it delivered and the entire book was like a lead up for something "major", which apparently was easy enough to resolve in one chapter. I just felt like the over 400 pages were a bit much since nothing of importance seemed to actually happen.

I would have love to give the book 3,5 stars cause it was a nice read and I enjoyed it a lot. Jennifer Cruise did a great job. She created some really great characters and great situations.
But my problem with the book was that i couldn't relate to the characters and the mistery, at least for me, was really boring. Overrall, it was a decent reading. nothing great but good!

I was expecting a light reading summer paper back and was pleasantly surprised. This book was also a mystery, so it was much better than I had expected. I would have given it 5 stars, but I had some difficulty keeping the characters and background history straight. I felt the author could have done a better job of reminding the reader who was who and who was married to who.

This book gets a 5- just for the toast the main character gives while eating lunch with her best friend- her boss and his associatte- something along the lines of-- cheers to me I've sleep with everyone at this table." I still Laugh out loud at that one.

Ooops, this is my Jennifer Cruisie novel that I couldn't get through. (The first being Welcome to Temptation). I tried, believe me, but I just couldn't care less about these characters, the plot or where it was going. I guess this writer is not my cup of tea. Back to the Michael Connelly-Harry Bosch Series for me! Tally Ho!

Crusie has written some excellent novels... her characters are smart, sassy, witty, and wonderful... they are truly everyday women you might meet in life, and the novels flow like water... there's always some degree of mystery involved, and this story is no different. I enjoyed this book thoroughly.

This is cute and silly and funny. It's a great light read that has characters who are quirky and outrageous! There is also a murder mystery from years ago. There are lots of sex scenes(and many F bombs),so don't read this if you find that offensive. The three women friends are so funny!

Crusie's novels are quick and enjoyable reads, always fast, interesting storylines, quirky characters, you read it with a bit of a smirk on your face. Perfect for travelling, long waits, when you want to be distracted but you don't want to pay a heavy emotional investment.
