Thirty years in the future, a sinister New York City exists in permanent darkness.

A student at the secured NYU, nineteen-year-old Nadine has visions of Victor Gianni, an imaginary guy she has real feelings for. Afraid of being truly insane, she explains the visions away as simple daydreams, but she can no longer deny them when she bumps into Victor in real life. But this

I picked this book up after reading a blurb somewhere and dove right in. I've been reading so much contemporary romance lately that it was nice to get back to my favorite genre--paranormal. This book actually is a blend of new adult/contemporary and paranormal, which I loved. NYU student, Nadine, lives in a post apocalyptic world where human sized bats attack people and plagues and disasters hit randomly. Nadine thinks she may be going crazy because of visions she's been having of a gorgeous guy ...more
I love the plot of this story. This is going to be a great, unique urban fantasy series. I would give it 5 stars, but the first half of the book was slow to me. I really had a hard time connecting with the characters. Their personalities were kind of boring in the first half. I could not "feel" the emotions (fear, desire, anger, sadness, etc.) that these characters have the potential to exhibit. (I give the first half of the book 2 stars)

But the second half...OMG, it was great. A real 5 star pag

I loved this book; it was a definite page turner! This book had a great mixture of romance, action and betrayal. What I liked was that although there were some things that were predictable, such as the real identities of some characters, there were so many things that occurred that you would have never thought of. So many twists and turns that it left you at the edge of your seat; just wanting to know what would happen next.

This copy was provided to me by the author for an honest review. Again, I feel so lucky to be reading such a very good book!

I'm not really big on dystopian story, maybe because I don't get to read a lot about them. This book is definitely on that genre. A little bit curious, I took a peep. The setting is in New York after 30 years when our sky is no longer blue... rivers and lakes are polluted... streets are no longer safe. Our world is close to chaos. And there's our heroine Nadine.

Walking away from Destiny Gift I really didn’t get everything I was hoping to out of it. Pretty much all of the New Adult I have read previously have been Contemporary. So this one was a little different for me. Even though I wish I could have got more out of it, I thought it was a pretty decent book. Juliana brings something a little different to this emerging fad, which I thought was nice. It is good to see when authors break away from the confines dictating a current fad. When New Adult first ...more

Destiny Gift is a unique blend of mythology and the paranormal in a post-apocalyptic setting. Bombings, targeted, extreme violence, and natural disasters occur almost every day around the world. From the lack of sun, agriculture suffers, thus so does the global market along with the stability of countries and households. And there are undocumented gigantic bats preying on people in the night.

When Nadine, an NYU student who's trying to secure the future of her family, meets the man of her lit
I knew Destiny Gift was going to be good. I just wasn't prepared for how totally awesome it was.

Surely I should have known, seeing as the setting has three of my favourite things - New York, the future and mythology. And did I mention hot guys? Get ready to put your swooning shoes on ladies.

What makes Destiny Gift so brilliant is the completely original idea that Juliana has created. Yes, it's New Adult. Yes, there's college. Yes, there's hot guys. But the catch is, there's no sex. The relations

A fascinating read from a majorly talented writer. In DESTINY GIFT, we enter into a dystopian New York 30 years in the future. Nadine is a college student who is both intrigued with and plagued by visions of the handsome Victor Gianni. Nadine believes that Victor exists only in her visions, and is surprised to encounter him in real life. Her experience with the real-life Victor is nothing like what we'd expect, and Nadine's visions soon shift to shed light on her world, and how she might be able ...more
I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. I have to admit that it took me a bit to get into the story. It was mysterious but I just had no idea where it was going. I was really curious about Victor and wanted to see where the story went so I continued on. Once I got about 30-35% into the book, I was hooked and liked the relationship between the 3 main characters and enjoyed seeing their growth. Nadine was a strong, female character and even though she had some unders ...more

I won this book in an even back in February and just received it recently. Overall, I enjoyed the book very much and would reccommend it to others. I am definitely going to keep reading the series. For me the beginning was a little scattered and it took me a while to really get into the book but once I did I had to keep reading. I like the characters and the ending was a nice cliffhanger.

I won this book from the author and am grateful I did.

I found this book to be exciting and fresh. The characters were strong and you cared about them. The concept was very new and inventive. I loved that the book was supernatural, but about gods not vampires or werewolves and the other "now" stuff. I also loved that the evil gods were evil and not evil but still good. My favorite character is Micah. I am really eager to read the rest of the series to see how he struggles with being who he is wh

My favorite things about this book is that it's unique and unpredictable , I definitely haven't read another book like this. It was action packed with never a dull moment. I loved that there was so much going on that i just couldn't simply put down the book. So thats a bit of a warning for you readers who are considering whether or not to check out this book. I loved the characters and what was revealed about each characters. I loved the vision parts they were pretty interesting bits to see on s ...more
The setting of Destiny Gift is in New York 30yrs in the future but somehow the world is struggling to survive. Nadia suddenly have visions upon arriving to NY and thus begin an adventure that includes gods, demons and bats!

I was so curious when I read the blurb. Gladly, I got a copy and started it as soon as I can. Shortly after, I was so curious and I felt what Nadia was feeling, feeling crazy, cause the clues to what was happening was slowly introduced. For some it might be annoying but for m

In the future the world is always in darkness. The sun stopped shining 30 years before and the world as we know it is completely changed, there is danger everywhere and the skies are home to giant bats that hunt people at random. Nadine has grown up in this world. Even though she has never seen the sun she has visions of the world the way it used to be. She also has visions of Victor, the man she has never met but whom she is head-over-heel

“Victor lived only in my visions, but I was in love with him.”–Nadine

Nadine has spent the last nine months cursed with hallucinations, which normally would be all bad except for the fact that she’s in love with the man of her dreams–er, hallucinations. Actually, make that visions. It turns out what she’s seeing is the past, present, and future and most definitely real, including her love. Well, kinda. Real Victor is nothing like vision Victor. And then there’s the mysterious Mycah, the first guy

I really loved this story. It's so different and captivating. It's a post apocalyptic world with a twist. It's exactly what I was looking for when I picked it up and began reading. I couldn't put it down, which is my type of book.

This book you could say is more NA but not exotic. It's something teens can read which is what I liked about it. I think adults, teens and New Adults would love to read it. So it works for a variety of readers.

Nadine is a strong character. But she doesn't start strong.

I went into Destiny Gift not knowing what to expect, but I was immensely surprised by how much I enjoyed it. The concept of Nadine, the main character, meeting the real-life man she's been dreaming about really intrigued me!

'Destiny Gift' is the first book in a New Adult paranormal romance series that follows leading lady Nadine as she struggles to find balance between her job, college classes, and the realistic visions she's been having for about nine months now. In her visions, the world is a different place - beautiful, bright, and alive - instead of the decaying wasteland that makes up her reality. Also present in her visions is the gorgeous man of her dreams, Victor Gianni. Nadine longs for her visions to disa ...more
I’m not sure if this is a trend or just pure coincidence but New Adult paranormal/fantasy are more subtle when it comes to romance. And when I say romance, I mean sex. Maybe because their focus is the fantasy/paranormal aspect rather than steamy scenes and the over rated life drama of the characters. But to be perfectly honest, the romantic gestures were subtle than I anticipated. I can compare it young adult but in my experience with this book and Chased by Regina Bartley are even subtler than ...more

Wow! I really don't know what to say about, Destiny Gift. It's definitely an intense read. You have to truly dedicate yourself to the reading of it. It's not a light-weight book you can just skim through. It requires serious attention and contemplation. There's so much going on at any one time, that you really have to pay attention to keep up. I mean this in a good way. I just want you to be prepared to be totally immersed.

The world has ended, as we know it, and the only safe place in New York C

I loved the concept but the beginning was slow and the ending was frustrating.

The Good
What drew me into Destiny Gift was the concept. I love me some gods and demons. This book started out like an intriguing dystopian with a livable but scary New York. The world is in constant darkness and huge bats like to tear people walking on the streets to shreds. Yeah, not fun. I loved how much depth this story had as it went on. Destiny Gif
I wasn't sure what to expect going into this book. But, since the idea of a girl dreaming about a boy and finding him in reality sounded so interesting, I decided to give it a shot. And, wow, did this book blow my mind! Two hot guys, a fascinating mythology, and a huge secret made Destiny Gift a fantastic read.

The world building in this book was brilliant. The atmosphere of a dark and sinister world was spot on. And the mythology that was introduced and how it was tied to the state of the world

Destiny Gift really took me on a fun suspenseful ride. I really enjoyed it too. This book really has a bit of everything, we have some cool fantasy/mythology in it, with her visions, it's also a real life type dystopian feel too, In New York City, it's all darkness (all over in fact) Its more of a new adult category I would say, college age and with the college environment. I really loved the really cool twist at the end, it got me really excited for this story, and for the next book.

Destiny Gift thrusts us into a disastrous world where people believe that they’ve been deserted by the deities they believe in. Earth is being plagued by natural disaster, crime is abundant, and giant bats are out for blood. This is a mixed-genre story and the combination of urban fantasy and post-apocalyptic elements sets the scene for what turns out to be a riveting and fascinating read.

Nadine is in love with the man of her dreams, only he really is a man that only exists in her dreams. In a world gone black, Nadine experiences intense visions. At first, they are solely about Victor. Not that she has a problem with it, with each vision she falls more in love. But then the visions start providing clues that might just save their world.

Her friends beg her to live a normal young adult life, full of parties and good times. One night, she meets the mysterious Micah. A deliciously re

Firstly I would like to thank the author for giving me this opportunity of reading and reviewing this book.
Well, to be honest I loved this book!!! Just loved it!!! How awesome was this book? Well, I am going to tell you. Hell dam awesome!

I got sucked into Destiny Gift, I was intrigued by the premise and wanted to know more. Sometimes a book comes along and utterly surprises you, that is what this book did to me. I fricking need book 2 like now. Lol, probably I will be late for new year celebration, but I need to find out what’s going to happen next.

Nadine has visions, visions of a hot pants melting guy and nothing less! How cool is that? Well, maybe soun

I took one look at this book and was falling all over myself to read it. Why? Well, let's list the reasons, shall we?

- New Adult Paranormal Romance. New Adult. We all know how much I heart that genre, yes? And paranormal romance. I'm usually cool with that.

- Do you SEE that cover? Ahhh, so gorgeous.

- Victor! I wanted to learn about this booooy. Can you blame me? He sounded so interesting in the description.

- Fates, gods, and demons. I wanted to KNOOOOOW, you know?

And now I've read the book. I fi

I'll admit first and foremost that just because I had to swap review dates with The Iron Traitor a few weeks ago, does not mean that I wanted to toss Destiny Gift right out the window and into the ocean. I almost lost part of my notes with the assumption that my Kindle was broken while in perfect condition when it really just needed charging.

Marking in ebooks is the only way not to get in severe trouble. x) I pity my poor planner with the chickenly scribbles of doom.
