I'm not a fan of novellas, but this one is a charmer. Also I usually prefer real history to tales where the "history" is nothing more than set dressing. But regardless, this one has its own magic.

The premise is pretty clear in the back-cover info. I can't add much more without giving the twists away. But I'll say that the twists are great. A bit obvious, but organic and pleasing—this is not one romance but three; a couple are sketchy but still nice. So three stars.

Not a lot to this story. A quick read, with a satisfying twist at the end.
