War has taken everything from me. My family. My home. My innocence. In a country blasted by war and wracked by economic hardship, a young orphan girl like me has very few options when it comes to survival. Thus, I do what I must to live, to eat, and I try very hard to not consider the cost to my soul. My heart is empty, and my existence brutal.

Absolutely BRILLIANT book!

Wounded was a beautiful, realistic, heart-wrenching and erotic love story that took me out of my comfort zone, wrapped me up in the characters’ journey and worked its way right into my heart.

It was absolutely NOT what I was expecting on so many levels but I LOVED IT!!!!

I’m done the book but I can’t even think about moving on yet, my mind keeps drifting back to Rania and Hunter….

This book caught my attention because it just seemed so DIFFERENT from so many others I’d r

What makes this book so extraordinary? It's totally unlike anything I've ever read. Once I started it, I could not put the damn kindle down. Why oh why I waited this long to read it, I don't know.

I wanted to like this book. I was hesitant going in but dammit, I wanted to like this book. I was the one who even suggested reading Wounded to a friend because it seemed like this might be one of the few hyped books which would actually work for me.

The slight recap that I'm about to give you will probably echo
As I write this review, I'm feeling a little bit torn. I listened to the Audible version and I think that I would have enjoyed this story more if I had read the Kindle version. Somewhere around 75% in, the male narrator seemed to go into a "roid rage" or something. Both the narrators seemed to become extremely animated, making the story, especially the sex scenes, seem overdone. The male narrator, especially, killed it for me. He was just too much! He took an emotional, heartfelt and serious sto ...more

Honestly, I've never read anything like it and I can not get it out of my head. Sometimes, I wonder if I'm a little too free with my 'Five Stars', and this book only compounds those worries, because it's in a league of it's own. Five Stars. Six Stars. Ten Stars... it was

Wounded is the beautiful story of Rania and Hunter.

Rania, an Iraqi girl, has lost everything. Her family has been killed, her home destroyed, and she has no hope of survival. There is one thing Rania has, and when she is offered food for her body the only choice she has is to sell herself or die.

Hunter joins the Marines after losing his family in a car accident. The only semi-family he had was his girlfriend and shortly after joining he loses her too. During his tour in Iraq he

This book blew me away! I cannot stop thinking about it! Hunter and Rania’s story touched my heart. I absolutely loved this book!

In the middle of a war zone, love blossoms.
Hunter is an injured American Marine who speaks no Arabic.
Rania is an Iraqi prostitute who doesn’t speak English.
An unlikely romance sparks between two people from two totally different worlds. They meet by chance and fall in love.

If there were 6 stars available.. this book would get 6 of them , hands down one of my all time favorite books and definitly my favorite book this year. I cannot stress how perfect this book was. It was so gritty and so dark for the first half..really the first three quarters.. but there were slivers of hope through out the darkness...

Disclaimer - I finished Wounded while I was on vacation, which was over a week ago, I usually like to write my reviews the day or day after I finish a read so it’s fresh on my mind so… I promise I’ll do my best to write a justified review.

This book...I can't even.
It's pretty heavy, the subject of it. It's certainly different than anything I've read before. It made me feel for the heroine so much.

The blurb is pretty vague, so I'm going to tell you what it's about (no spoilers or anything about how the story unfolds).

I had to pause before actually rating this.

I really like stories that are set to occur in situations such as this. Mostly because you run the gamut of human emotion that you won't likely find in fictional Homecoming Dances or a filthy bar where the heroine works. I loved how the author depicted war-time Iraq with believable grit and vividness it was hard to not pay attention. When she describes Rania's clients and when they are doing their business, you can SMELL the place AND the per

I write this with a very heavy heart that I liked this book but did not love it. Needless to say, I had extremely high expectations from this one.

The story seemed to have everything that I absolutely adore in a book - an innocent but strong heroine that doesn't throw fits every five seconds and a sexy, alpha marine. The setting was amazing. I will give you that. A war zone filled with death, hopelessness and exploding bombs. And i was so damn happy about the fact that I knew the lo

OMG, what a beautiful, beautiful story! Set against an Iraqi war zone, it is the story of two lost souls from very different lives who are thrown together in vicious circumstances, and end up saving each other.

We meet Rania when she is a child, growing up in war-torn Iraq. She has lost both of her parents to the war, and is left with just her younger brother and a mentally absent Aunt. By the age of 14 she is alone, homeless and starving. Without any other options, she turns to prostitution in

Wounded has me a little torn. There are parts of this book that had me mesmerized, unable to tear my eyes from the words. Then at time I felt like it was an US Marine recruitment video. In the end I split the star rating between these two

This book was truly one of a kind! I had no idea what I was going to get when I started, I had read reviews where readers were saying they were physically sick.. I get it, and I completely understand why now that I have finished. However, I managed to refrain from running to the nearest toilet.. that doesn't mean it was easy though. It wasn't, it was very hard at times, it was so raw, so gritty.. so real.

Wounded was far more gripping, dark, beautiful, captivating than i imagined it would be.

We are introduced to two characters who are in a very dark place in their lives.

One of the most realistic, breathtakingly beautiful books I have ever read. Jasinda's brilliant and vivid depiction of the horrors of war serves as the dark, gritty canvas for this epic love story. Rania's fight for survival amazed me, Hunter's quiet resilience astounded me, and their undying devotion to one another overwhelmed me.

To risk everything for love is a timeless tale, fraught with a myriad of emotions - hope, fear, joy, sorrow. But Rania and Hunter prove that the beauty is

OMG! Wow! That was unexpected! Reading the synopsis of this book I'm thinking this is a love story of a girl struggling to get by meets a military guy dealing with the demands of being in the war... Boy was I ever wrong!! I was hating this book & loving this book at the same time! Hating it because my heart went out to Rania and what she had to endure from the early age of 12. This book was so well written, I had tears in my eyes half the time. I almost didn't finish reading because I found it so hard to read some parts in the book, but I couldn't stop because I needed to know what was going to happen. Reading this book was at times very hard. My heart was in my throat, I felt Raina's panic and her utter desperation. I felt angry at the world that let a young girl face an existence like this, even though I know that this happens, it was a harsh slap in the face to read about it.
